Diigo 3.0 social bookmarking tool adds recommendations - Download Squad - 0 views

  • The service has also added a recommendation engine. Since users are constantly saving and tagging web content, Diigo has a huge database of web pages that may feature similar content. So if you like pages about Windows freeware, Diigo probably knows that and when you click on the recommendations feed you should be able to find pages that you'll like.

Diigo v3: Improves Social Bookmarking : Somewhat Frank :: web tech life :: blog by Fran... - 0 views

  • Check out this quick demo video about Diigo v3 and find out just what it can do. Please note though, this video surprisingly showcased a screen-shot of TechCrunch and not SOMEWHAT FRANK - there must be some sort of mix up. :)  Nonetheless, Diigo v3 is pretty impressive. I like the way that Diigo enables users to create lists of bookmarks that can then be viewed a number of different ways (list views, web slide view, etc). I also like its bookmarking toolset as it offers a number of innovative ways to capture and annotate content.

Diigo releases new version, promising that social bookmarking ain't dead yet ... - 0 views

  • Interestingly, Ren points out Delicious as the only competitor to his service that’s still innovating. However, it looks like traffic to Delicious is falling off, while StumbleUpon has spiked upward according to Alexa, Compete and Quantcast (click through for the charts). That may mean that the average user is actually interested in a less full-featured service. Around the corner is Delicious 2.0 (coverage on that from TechCrunch), so we’ll soon have a chance to see.

  • Diigo has been building quite a following in education. I keep running into them at conferences. They have a great product and are building a tool that seems to do more than Delicious, especially in education. Check it out.

Diigo Launches 3.0; Adds More Social Features and Team Collaboration | CenterNetworks - 0 views

  • Web bookmarking and research tool Diigo is announcing the launch of Diigo 3.0 today. We initially reviewed Diigo when they launched at DEMO 2007. Diigo is a bookmark tool but what I like about Diigo is their WebSlides feature. It basically makes a live PowerPoint-like annotated presentation using media from across the Web. Back in September I thought the tool was perfect for Web agencies, and I stand by this claim today. One of the new features of Diigo 3.0 is collaborative research. Team members can bring together links they find across the Web for comments and annotation. There is tagging and sticky notes that the team can participate in to make the presentation stronger. The other major update is the addition of more social components. If you install the Diigo toolbar, as you browse the Web, you can see what others think of the page including comments, who bookmarked the page and what other similar sites and pages they have bookmarked. It's all about discovery and Diigo has done a great job in this area.

Heather Henderson: The Convenience of Diigo - 0 views

  • Recently, I found another very useful function for Diigo, and that is having it aid me in my study of the Spanish language. I am trying to brush up on my skills in time for a job interview, and am meeting with a friend each week to discuss an article (in Spanish) that we have both read. I am using the Diigo comment tool to translate any words in the passage I don't know. That way, when I reread the text, I don't have to rely on the translation, but can refer to it if needed. It is so convenient, and I can't wait to learn more Spanish using Diigo. Has anyone else found that Diigo has aided them in other ways? Are there other cool features I should know about?
  • I am thoroughly enjoying using Diigo for educational purposes. I don't think I will really get into sharing my articles and comments until I have more friends on there, and figure out how to use it so that only they can see my comments. But I love setting it to private and using the highlight, bookmark and comments features to read online for my classes.

Training Wheels: Tag, You're It, Folks -- Or, What Does Social Bookmarking Say About Me? - 0 views

  • Diigo has no awkward periods to parse. Diigo can suck up my bookmarks from some of the browsers I use. I can highlight sections of a web page and add comments about them on sticky notes. I can forward individual bookmarks with my highlighted sections to others.
  • I have added a Diigolet button on my bookmark bar on all but one of my browsers. (There's also a Diigo toolbar, but I'm reluctant to give up real estate in my browser.) Diigo will allow me to export its bookmarks into my Del.icio.us, Furl, etc. accounts without any fuss. I can keep selected bookmarks private or add private comments to my public bookmarks -- this is perfect for stashing account information! I'm going to give Diigo a try.

Diigo: A Great Tool! « Little Readers - 0 views

  • I absolutely loved using Diigo.  After catching on, I found myself constantly wanting to highlight and sticky note something.  I think I added more personal thoughts to the readings than I would had I just printed them out and read them on paper.  Maybe it’s because these were pretty interesting articles, but I definitely made more connections than I normally do.  Usually, I struggle finding anything to say, or I’m too lazy to write annotations in the almost non-existent margins.  I was a little hesitant about Diigo, initially.  And, to be honest, I did not download the toolbar, because, well…I’m quite content with my present toolbar and I didn’t want to alter it.  But, I decided to use the Diigolet and that works great.  All I need to do is highlight whatever text I find intersting and I can make as many sticky notes as I want.  The only issue I had was re-starting the Diigolet everytime I loaded another page - I guess it doesn’t remain open from page to page?  Still, a very fun tool.

  • Have no fear . . . Diigo is here! What is this Diigo thing you ask? Diigo may be one of the coolest social bookmarking sites on the web. This new web 2.0 tool (well ok, it is not that new but it is very very cool. Anyway, if you have not heard about it, it is still new) is del.icio.us on steroids! Imagine being able to highlight information directly over a web page and attach your comments to what you highlighted. Now you can leave detailed instructions on a website or create a reading coach for students that need additional support. With Diigo you can caption (add a “sticky note” to) an image or concept to enhance understanding.

Diigo un del.icio.us puissance dix! - 0 views

  • Diigo un del.icio.us puissance dix !

French -> English:Diigo a del.icio.us power ten! If you know del.icio.us, you would have all interest to try Diigo. This two Web services has like basis the social bookmarks. On the other hand Diigo goes farther, while permitting the creation of notes among others on your bookmarks, to annotate the Web pages, to collaborate while exchanging some commentaries to even the bookmarks.

Paper DOS!!! (the "i" of Dios is missing) | Politico Mojo - 0 views

  • DIIIIIIIIGO!!! With the power of Diigo I can surf the web pages and not only bookmark pages I find interesting and relevant but I can also highlight and add sticky notes of comments that I and other members of the Diigo Community can easily access and discuss. This adds more steroids to the standard web bookmarking technique. Instead of having a huge list of bookmarks which i cannot remember what they are anymore I can ad tags, make sub-categories and share with other members with my same interest. Plus, it has a beautiful name… DIIIIIIIIIIIGOOOO! If only a computer can echo so all my imaginary friends online can hear it.

My Site - miss.anthropology - 0 views

  • 3. Diigo - A really fantastic social bookmarking and annotation tool. Like del.icio.us, Diigo arms you with web browser toolbar that lets you publicly share and organize your website bookmarks. However, Diigo expands upon this premise by allowing users to highlight, clip, and make sticky-notes on the websites you bookmark- and this makes it a powerful research tool (especially if you're me- prone to bookmarking websites that mention anything having to do with my thesis, and forgetting why they were important later).

EdCompBlog: Social Annotation - 0 views

  • It reminded me of the the review tools in Microsoft Word which I've used a few times with students - someone sends me a Word document and I add comments and suggested edits. The review tools can track changes I make as well as highlighting sections and adding notes in the margin. I can then send the annotated Word document back to the author and a conversation grows around the original document and our comments. When I first started using this feature of Word, I thought it would be great if you could do that with web pages. Imagine being able to get a class of students to collaborate on a web page: to highlighting sections, share their understanding, ask questions and add extra information. With diigo, that's exactly what you could do.Add to that online social bookmarking (which can be linked to other bookmarking services such as del.icio.us), the ability to highlight any text on a page and search for it on a range of search services using a pop-up menu, to blog about a page and link non-diigo users to your annotations on that page (this blog posted was created using the diigo Blog this tool) and a host of other features ...and you have a stunningly valuable educational tool.
  • I have also found Diigo to be quite an exciting tool and this year my year group is in a better position to use it. I structured it into an independent activity during a literacy hour with my Year 5 children. Using Diigo I annotated a set of written instructions with comprehension style questions and the children answered them in their jotters. The children were accessing the site using a class set of laptops. I wanted them to respond someway online but took a simpler step to begin with to test the concept. It worked very well and the children were well motivated and on task - they managed well with the new tool and took it in their stride.
