Has my testing/reporting caused any service to fail? I do hope not. If so, my apologies.

Reviewing behaviour in new Safari 3.2 on Mac OS X 10.5.5: the issue persists.
Without trawling the various WebKit tickets mentioned above, can you *estimate* whether this is a bug in WebKit, or in Diigo, or in some combination of the two?
and I might have doubted that error, because I sometimes find that (for this class of issue) Firefox succeeds where Diigo fails, but now in Firefox, too:
Service has resumed so maybe my previous comment #21 should be ignored. But I'll leave it there, just in case an aspect of the routine was contributory to the service issue.

Problem noted whilst reviewing my post to
Am I impatient? Should I wait some time before sharing annotated links? If so, how long?
Please advise.
Thanks

I'll begin by testing WebKit r37605 from
Then if necessary, post to both

OK thanks, so I'll address the bug to

That was, https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21731
http://groups.google.com/group/Is-Something-Broken/browse_thread/thread/d4789595c1df9568

I find that the problem affects annotated URLs beyond the Google domain.
Unfortunately for us, it seems that our own domains/servers are affected.
All three† of

* work in Firefox 3.0.3
* fail to display Diigo annotations, but do at least redirect in Internet Explorer 6.0.app in Darwine
* fail completely in OmniWeb-5.6-v613, WebKit nightly r37990 (30 October 2008) and Safari; neither the Diigo view nor the original page are displayed.
Mac OS X 10.5.5, Intel.
http://groups.google.com/group/Is-Something-Broken/browse_thread/thread/d4789595c1df9568 is updated accordingly. I wonder what, if anything, our domains/servers, and those of Google Groups, have in common.
I'll proceed to update https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21731

Done.
FWIW I now have my name against a number of WebKit issues concerning redirect:

TIA for any advice - Graham
http://www.diigo.com/annotated/94ba5a622f457d061aa1edd78720f337 is an annotated link for
https://bugs.webkit.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13490 that works in Firefox but not in Safari/WebKit.
http://www.diigo.com/annotated/b7f8d4017bcf149ddb2c8fefdcda4981
in Safari fails to present or redirect to
http://martinaspeli.net/articles/on-plone-documentation
PostScript: I wonder whether the caching routine described at http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/problems-missing-highlights-and-cache-page-didn-t-exist-8586#7 is relevant.

Eventually, Diigo responds
> Our server is temporarily unavailable
and I might have doubted that error, because I sometimes find that (for this class of issue) Firefox succeeds where Diigo fails, but now in Firefox, too:
> Our server is temporarily unavailable
Probably off-topic, but if it helps to troubleshoot the symptoms within in this thread, my route to discovering the page that I have annotated involved redirection at one point. Details at
http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/chandler-users/2008-December/003442.html
Service has resumed so maybe my previous comment #21 should be ignored. But I'll leave it there, just in case an aspect of the routine was contributory to the service issue.
* an issue with Diigo service
and/or
* the (respectable) requests of some sites to not have their content cached.
Now, speeding through an old thread http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/diigo-warning-me-of-redirection-253 I'm reminded that I have, on my computer, various installations that extend (some would say, hack) my OS, my Safari, my home directory etc..
I still suspect a combination of issues, but this is my note to self to:
* check whether the issue is reproducible on computers other than my own (AFAIK it is)
* note any ways in which the symptoms differ elsewhere.

When I copy
http://lists.osafoundation.org/archives/chandler-users/200812.mbox/%3cD4DCABC8-D75E-46B9-9CBB-2B41038E73C2@mac.com%3e
from Safari toolbar to pasteboard, then paste to the Firefox 3.0.4 navigation bar, in Mac OS X 10.5.5, the representation of the URL differs:
- then from Diigo Toolbar 3.1.6.7 for Firefox I gain a different annotated link
http://www.diigo.com/annotated/1cd565bf94f91095c028ca0da1d3dced
which _does_ work in Safari.
Then:
1. Safari
2. http://www.diigo.com/annotated/1cd565bf94f91095c028ca0da1d3dced
3. 'Annotated page' - click 'Page'
4. present Diigolet and wait for load to complete
5. annotations are missing; I have been directed to a variation of the URL.

in Safari fails to present or redirect to
https://www.kennametal.com/en-US/home.jhtml
In this instance: I imagine that the secure (https) nature of the original is contrary to caching policies.
Postscript: http://groups.diigo.com/Diigo_HQ/forum/topic/access-cached-pages-3725#2 confirms that https content is not cached, and I agree with that policy.
The bug remains; most pages affected are *not* https

In Firefox 3.0.5 on Mac OS X 10.5.6 the redirect is to
http://www.friday-ad.co.uk/
If I take the http://www.diigo.com/user/grahamperrin route to the Diigo cached copy of the bookmark I gain http://www.diigo.com/cached?url=http%3A%2F%2Fmotoring.friday-ad.co.uk%2FAdRef%2FYI846C5H3%2FParentClass%2F6507%2FCategory%2F16%2FEditions%2FG%7CHove%7CK%2CB%2CF%2CA%2CC%2FSArea%2FSurrounding%2FUpperPrice%2F2000%2FSortOrder%2FPRLO%2FWeb%2FFullAdDetails.asp
Incidentally, until very recently browsers such as Safari and Firefox were advised to _not_ visit this Friday-Ad site.
