  I really hate it when I create a tag called fun, then bookmark some sites into Fun, then learn that Diigo has separated them into two separate tags because one has a capital and one has a lower case F! http://twitter.com/KaylaWildflower

  I heartily agree! Tags should be case-insensitive, i.e. upper and lower-case should be treated as the same letter.

  A number of other users made strong pleas for case sensitivity.

  When you made those bookmarks, what interface did you use? Diigolet, Post to Diigo, or an installed version of Diigo?
  
  The interface will usually steer you to your existing tag before you create an alternative.
