I realise that Diigo uses the username as a primary reference for each user and as such it can not be changed.
Maggie suggested changing the email address and then forming a new Diigo account with the original email address. I find that it is easy to change the email address. BUT when I try to create the new account with the old email address I get an error saying that the email address is already in use by another user.
Is it just a matter of waiting for a database to be reset or is there another issue going on here?
We don't allow username to be changed, nor an email to be used twice.
One workaround is for you to change the previous email to something else first, so that you can reuse the desired email. We only recommend this if it's really necessary for you to change the username / email combination.
Maggie I have tried this and it does not work. Even though I have changed the email address on this account, when I try to create a new account with the old email address the system tells me that the email is taken by another user.
