A great piece on how leaders can do better at hearing the "whole truth" and how they can get good feedback on how they are doing

Several pastors have recommended this book, including the one I interviewed for this class. It is not uncommon to encounter congregations (and, I would think) people serving non-profits to have experienced betrayal. This is an invaluable resource for learning how to help them work through the residual issues towards healing and wholeness.

Congregations are struggling so much that a whole industry has arisen to provide pastors with the "secrets" of being a successful leader in their field.

I hope you all know about the Alban Institute. I found this post interesting.

These are often on the conservative side, but some are very usable for mainstream churches and they are free.

This article focuses on an aspect of leadership that Northouse has deliberately avoided: the dark side, of transformational leadership in particular.

Interesting cult leader. I posted an article about the dark side also. I wonder why Northouse avoided the topic. I think it would have been instructional. The closest he came was that test in which you describe the leader you least liked to work with.

An interesting read from a very different type of leadership style. I grew up just a few miles away from a Marine base my entire life, so this was pretty accurate with what I have witnessed.

Winning in a small field is much less exciting than feeling like a loser among a bunch of superstars.

This is an interesting read for those that are in the UM system. It seeks to look at the struggle of many mainstream churches; how is our leadership being effective?

How are women playing a role in leadership in the church. I found this article to be a bit abrasive but at least am happy that they're looking at the issue at all.

I thought I would mix up the mix a little and throw in an article on leadership and ethics from a religion standpoint. Ethics is indeed a big component to leadership, one that we need to be mindful of constantly in our profession as religious leaders
