Religion and Ethics - 0 views

I thought I would mix up the mix a little and throw in an article on leadership and ethics from a religion standpoint. Ethics is indeed a big component to leadership, one that we need to be mindful of constantly in our profession as religious leaders

This book places ethics at the "heart of leadership," and provides essays written by theorists, scholars, and philosophers in order to explore issues regarding leadership and ethics. It seems like this book would provide inspiration to aspiring leaders.

Amazon.com: Credo (9780664229481): William Sloane Coffin: Books - 0 views

Credo by William Sloan Coffin, a collection of thoughts over topics ranging from faith and hope to war and the end of life.  He urges ministers to be leaders-to "be as pastoral as possible but never surrender ethical initiative" (153).  He argues leadership doesn't mean being friends with everyone or that everyone will like you-"Jesus knew that 'love your enemies' didn't mean 'don't make any'" (152).  He says good leaders take risks, evaluate potential outcomes and then move forward-"If you choose, you're sometimes wrong; but if you never choose, you're always wrong" (72).

Ingomar Club, former employee drop demurrer; sexual harassment suit moves forward - 0 views

  •
"The sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Eureka's Ingomar Club is moving forward after the club and one named defendant dropped a demurrer -- a plea for dismissal -- filed in the case last week. The suit, filed by Jennifer "Jenny" Partsafas against the club and former employee Anthony Pagani, was challenged when defense attorney Catherine Manske filed the demurrer earlier this month. A preliminary objection to the original complaint filed by Partsafas' attorney Zach Zwerdling in February, the demurrer referred to the complaint as "uncertain, ambiguous and unintelligible," according to documents filed in the Humboldt County Superior Court." Okay, I know that I really must stop searching my home town news paper for articles that relate to our class. It's becoming really fun for me and I know that can't be good. This article caught my eye because it is about ethics and boundaries and yes, there is a name I recognize in the article. Zack Zwerdling. Again, Zack and I grew up together and attended the same high school. Now I know the answer to the question, "Whatever happened to that weird, wonderful and brilliant kid, Zach Zwerdling?" Zack appears to be defending the rights of a young woman who has taken on a major institution in the Humboldt County area, the Ingomar Club. No small feat. I will have to stay tuned to the Times Standard to find out the results of the lawsuit. I promise not to put THAT ONE on Diigo. Go Zack. You were the underdog at one time, now you are standing up for one. Awesome.

Take a look at the last questions we need to ask ourselves about the concept of "just war". I think whenever a person sticks his neck out...especially these days and questions even the actions of a "liberal" president...they are leaders of thought. Galen

This article focuses on an aspect of leadership that Northouse has deliberately avoided: the dark side, of transformational leadership in particular.

Interesting cult leader. I posted an article about the dark side also. I wonder why Northouse avoided the topic. I think it would have been instructional. The closest he came was that test in which you describe the leader you least liked to work with.
