"There's been a lot of excitement around TED's foray into education, bringing its inspirational video model to the classroom. TED-Ed launched the YouTube Channel with produced and animated videos about two months ago and now includes a free service that lets teachers upload any YouTube video to its polished platform. Teachers can also make any of the videos - TED or any other - more relevant to their classes by adding customized questions and quizzes."

"The rapid adoption of devices in the classroom has fundamentally changed the way we can create video. Every part of the creation process -- writing, recording, editing, and distributing -- is possible on the devices that can fit in our pocket. Vision is the most dominant of the five senses. Research shows that concepts are better remembered if they are taught visually. This is called the pictorial superiority effect, and it's why video is such a powerful learning tool. Royan Lee picked this apart well. I also think there are times when the best option involves avoiding technology. However, I still see a real benefit in the SAMR model, in terms of thinking about the transformative power of technology."

" Indiana Department of Education is now making NBC LEARN K-12 a part of its digital offerings! Now all middle and high schools will be able to access thousands of high-quality archival, original, and currents events videos from NBC LEARN K-12 for use in classroom instruction, student projects, and homework."

"Animas High School's Escape Room. And it might be the perfect entertainment for a spring evening. "Six geniuses can enter the room," said Aliza Cruz, a math teacher at AHS, "but if they can't work together, they probably won't get out." The origin of escape rooms is somewhat in dispute, but whether they began in Silicon Valley in 2006 or in Japan in 2007, they have spread around the world. Likened to a physical version of "escape-the-room" video games, they can be set to resemble such things as a space station or a dungeon."
