Grade level 1- 3 grade. Students may research plants and animals, people, places, history and government, world religions, science and math, sports and hobbies and arts. Science projects, games and activities engage students learning.

The Nebraska Partnership for American History Education provides a variety of primary source resources by theme, time period, photos (1850-1938), and bibliographic collections. This site is useful for Nebraska history, United States history, women's history, Native & African American histories. It would definitely be appropriate for intermediate elementary students through high school students and all educators (lesson plans can be found here).

I liked this site and the concept behind it, the site takes documents and puts together historial thinking exercises. You can be an image detective and pick a photo and the site will ask you questions and make you think about what you are looking at and draw your own conclusions. The site really uses critical thinking skills and makes students think about the documents they are looking at.

This is the Lincoln Library website. They have a collection of primary source material that ranges from text to photographs and covers a wide variety of topics from Native American History to Civil War and slavery. It would be great to use to introduce students to Abraham Lincoln.

This is a webpage that has a lot of links to primary doucments including treaties and diaries from WWI. It is a great place for history students to get primary source documentation for reports or just to extend their learning.

This website, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, has a plethora of resources available to help parents and teachers looking for resources.  One of my favorite parts to use in the classroom was the section of videos from many different authors.  These would be great to use for an author study, lesson, or just to enhance a book the students enjoyed.

Older students would greatly benefit from this lesson plan for learning about primary sources.  Everything is laid out perfectly with links included to help illustrate the subject of primary sources.  Assessment is included with a rubric.

This is LIFE magazine's photo archive. I love this site because it has everything. Yu can photos for recent history as well as anything from the past. It has a great search option. I use this to set up picture walks when I am teaching anything that my students may not have background knowledge for.

This site was created by the National Oceanic and Atmopshperic Association in an effort to share photographs collected by the personnel who work for the agency. This would be a great site for students to collect visual artifacts (past and present) for assignments dealing with weather events and ocean life.

This website is a great place for students to find information and pictures about the history of our national parks.

This is a cool website because users can manipulate the documents, create their own collections, and use the documents they collect to make a poster or movie all from one website. It is easily searchable by subject and returns a variety of document types. The technology could also fall under the AASL standards of using technology to create new ideas and products to share.

I really liked this site, I thought the features on it were different and it was very visual. You can shuffle and look at random documents or use the search function. When you are looking at an item there are tags you can click on to look at similar items and also additonal links for related websites. You can add documents to your "collection" by dragging the image. There is also a backtrack function where you can look at all the documents you've look at incase you can't find something you previously saw and didn't move to your collection. There are pathway challenges which are an activity using documents and you can also create posters or movies.

This website is set up so you can click on a picture of a historical document, event, or landmark, and it pulls all kinds of related articles, in an aesthetically pleasing arrangement. The main document is in the center of the screen, with everything else surrounding it. It is totally visual, and would be great for middle school to high school students.

I love these links and activities. I initially went to this site because it seemed promising for science and math activities. There are a variety of subjects covered here to include the initial two mentioned and foreign languages. There are also primary source activites here, a real tresure chest. Not only can I use some of these with my high school foreign language students, but also find things to keep my grandkids entertained when babysitting.

This website provides current as well as historical video and audio artifacts. It also provides photos and illustrations of historical events and people. For example, under Prohibition, students can view the newspaper headlilne making alcohol illegal, as well as photos of events and influential people in that era. Many other historical topics are covered. This would be a useful tool in History or maybe even a Literature class.

The primary sources at this site are usually viewed in video form in clips from the various PBS documentary programs. Suggest you search like so, "primary sources" + "grade 3", inserting what ever grade you need. PBS Teachers can be accessed from this site, too, to search for good lesson plans for grades 1-12 related to primary sources. The search here can be narrowed down by grade level. This site is good for teaching about people, places, events, animals, inventions, and cultures.

This site has a variety of resources for teachers and students on the history of the holocaust. Also covered is anti-semitism and genocide. The online presentations, especially the personal perspective of survivors are haunting.

The ushmm or the United States Holocaust Museum is and imporant website because it gives you access to anything that pretains to the Holocaust. Not only information about the event, but also the survivors themselves.

This is a sobering wesite that documents the events, the people and the history of the Holocaust. The site also addresses genocide and those who are at risk today.

The Kids in the House Web site is provided by the Office of the Clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives to provide educational information about the legislative branch fo the U.S. government. This site provides activities, resources and lesson plans for students K-12. The grade school section has a segment like the School House Rocks "I'm Just a Bill"
