Even though this is not an American affiliated site, the British Library has excellent resources for educators.  I enjoyed the variety of tools and resources it had to offer.  One particular area that I enjoyed exploring was their "Timelines: Sources from History" that allows you to explore collection items from ancient civilizations to the present day.  There was also this one section pertaining to a century of children's songs, rhymes and games, which presented children's culture in Britain over the years. I found this to be very intriguing because I did not expect to see a special area designated only for children's games of the past. In addition to explaining these games there were also curriculum links highlighting drama, history, art, citizenship, etc. 

This resource provides information and primary information on early Nebraska history as well as information on other American history subject areas.  It offers a portal, visual resources and lesson plans compiled on various subject areas. 

This Bureau of Labor Statistics page provides information on different occupations based on national numbers, regional, state, and a number of different metropolitan areas. There are also a number of links to other related sites that can be accessed regarding employment trends.

This site provides statistical data that can be used in preparing research papers as well as for students looking at careers based on geographic location as a source for determining their career future.

Primary sources dealing specifically with Nebraska. This would be a great source for bringing history ideas to Nebraska and showing how worldwide or national ideas can impact a local area

Primary Resources - free worksheets, lesson plans and teaching ideas for primary and elementary teachers. This primary website allows easy access to K-6 teachers and students. A great way to practice and master skills. Primary Resources covers all curriculum areas.

I thought this was a good resources for documents dealing with the Holocaust. The online exhibitions are on many different topics and cover a lot of information. They include photographs, video, audio, maps, and transcripts of interviews. Each subject topic also has listing of related publications and websites for each subject. There is also a Holocaust Encyclopedia and a learning site for students specifically where you can browse different subject areas or by document type. One that I found interesting was browsing by ID cards where you can look at different individuals and it would give their photo and story and background information.

This is the history page for the local branch of the Weather Service. It has photos of the various locations throughout the area, both current and past. Then there are some links and information at the bottom of the page. This would be great for the fourth grade when they begin their tornado units in the Spring.

This site has some great local photos. It really documents the development of the Omaha area and various events throughout Omaha's history. It would be a great place to have fourth grade browse for local history.

This is so amazing and moving. There are links to various types of artifacts concerning 9/11. There are audio recordings of people who have lost loved ones or who lived in the area and all types of things. I think this would be a great way to bring 9/11 alive for students. By listening to what life was like before and how it felt after 9/11.

I liked how when you first are on this site you are given a map of the world and can pick your documents from the various areas of the world. You can also search by time, topic or type of item. This site is very visual when searching which I enjoyed.

This is an archive of political cartoons printed in Britain. It would be great for a lesson that showed multiple viewpoints and perspectives on issues and moments in history. Students can analyze them to find out the cartoonist's perspective on an idea, and what the public's reaction was to an event. I use these in class to have my students see how one country can react to the events in another, and how different areas view each other.

This site list British cartoons from 1904 to the 1990's.  Cartoons are often a mirror of the culture which they portray.  This site is excellent source for social and political history of Great Britain. This site also allows registered users to create groups of cartoons for education purposes and users can access other previously created groups. The site also provides teaching and learning tools and lessons.

One hundred documents which reflect important events in American history. This site reflects the diversity and unity within our culture and its focus is highlighting, celebrating, and creating discussion that diversity and unity. It is not simply an archive of a broad collection of documents, but rather an archive which represents a vast range of American experiences.

Our documents includes 100 Milestone American historical documents compiled to span United States historical events from 1776-1965. Documents can be accessed by listing/year or visual/digital scroll bar. This resource would be valuable for intermediate elementary students through high school students as well as educators. Primary sources would be beneficial in U.S./American history and government education.

This website has many primary and government documents relating to the history of the United States.  One area that I really enjoyed exploring was the tools for educators.  Under that section, they had many tips for librarians such as creating book displays, bulletin board ideas, and a link to a poster so staff and students can vote on the most important American history documents.

This is a good site for those seniors whose Senior Project topic is on environmental issues. It is a springboard for choosing a specific focal point. It would also be good for the students to use for choosing an action plan for their project. Site is also a great science site for younger kids if you choose to look at only the bullet facts provided.

This EPA site gives the reader lots of options. One can learn about information where you live, popular topics, and current environmental news. I typed my zip code and found out the air quality, water and land information, the health risks, and energy produced in my area. I also explored some of the topics such as health and safety issues. Students could use this site to approach project-based learning and inquiry projects.

High school. Topic of studies range from acid rain, air pollution, land fills, and more. Easy to navigate. Student can find and comprehend information with easy to create reports on environmental issues, causes, and solutions

This site integrates global issues & cultural awareness through a variety of learning activities. The site has and educator section that is incredible, it has lesson plans divided by grade level, region and subject area. I really enjoyed the languages section. The Peace Corp Challenge Game was a lot of fun.

The Making of America is a digital library of primary sources in American social history. The collection covers the subject areas of education, psychology, American history, sociology, religion, and science and technology. The site has a subject browsing feature that makes it very easy to navigate.

This is a government web site that helps students find a job/career that will be of interest to them based on what they enjoy doing. On the first page a student can select what they like to do and then it will take them to a list of various jobs that are related to their interests. Once there, students can choose a particular job to investigate it further. They can find out what they need to do to get that type of job, the pay, the need for wokers in this area, etc. I think that this would be great for high school students who are trying to figure out what type of career they would like to pursue.

The National Gallery of Art (NGA) website provide a unique resource page to connect art and other areas of curriculum. The resources finder allows you to search by curriculum, topic, or artist. These searches provide you with student activities, teacher lesson plans, biographies, and the artwork to accompany them. The NGA has a loan program available.

This site provides an opportunity to explore baseball through different curriculum areas. It could be used to explore race relations, history, mathematics, and the influence sports has had on our society over the generations.
