Teaching about the "stress bucket" in schools by @sam_oldale - 0 views

  •
A few months ago I went on a Mental Health First Aid in schools course. We learnt about the stress bucket. So it goes like this. Basically we all have a stress bucket. If it gets too full as the stresses of life flow in to it, it will over fill and over flow and we will begin to feel overwhelmed. Coping strategies are like a tap on the bucket and should be used to allow some of the stress to be released and will prevent us from becoming overwhelmed. If our stress bucket gets too full we can suffer from mental ill health. Some life events such as bereavement, illness etc. can cause our buckets to overflow quite quickly but sometimes small life stressors can build and accumulate also causing our buckets to fill...

backflow preventer suppliers - 1 views

  •
Backflow preventer for sale is a hydraulic control combination device that strictly limits the water flow in the pipeline to only one-way flow according to the situation that the backflow pollution of the tap water supply equipment, especially the drinking water pipeline is serious, and there is no effective device to prevent the backflow pollution. As a popular kind of China bronze ball valve, the backflow preventer function is to prevent the medium in the pipeline from flowing back under any working conditions to achieve the purpose of avoiding backflow pollution. At present, different types of backflow preventers are mainly low-resistance backflow preventers and pressure-reducing backflow preventers. According to national standards, the head loss of low-resistance backflow preventer device is less than 3 meters, and the head loss of pressure-reducing backflow preventers is less than 7 meters.

The 15mm copper valve body and ball are typically made of bronze, a durable and corrosion-resistant metal that is ideal for use in plumbing applications. China 3 way bronze ball valve is commonly used in residential and commercial plumbing systems to control the flow of water or gas in pipes. They are reliable, long-lasting, and easy to operate, making them a popular choice for many different types of plumbing installations. With proper maintenance, a flanged bronze ball valve can provide reliable service for many years, making it a cost-effective option for plumbing systems of all types and sizes.

china gate valve - 0 views

  •
China Gate Valve A China gate valve is a type of valve used in industrial applications to control the flow of fluids such as water, gas, or oil. It is named after the wedge-shaped gate that is lowered into a seating surface to restrict or allow the flow of fluid through the valve. Gate valves are typically used in fully open or fully closed positions, making them suitable for applications that require a tight shut-off, but not for controlling the flow rate. They are commonly used in pipeline systems, oil and gas refineries, power plants, and other industrial settings. With their simple design and reliable performance, gate valves are a popular choice for various industrial applications.

Ned Breslin - Free Extraordinary Profiles - 0 views

Edward "Ned" Breslin lived in Africa long enough to see NGOs come and go. What he has learned seeing and experiencing lack of safe drinking water is that digging and putting up handpumps are not enough. Rather than taking it as the final stage of a project, organizations should start seeing it as only the culmination of transforming lives. In 2009, he became the CEO of Water For People and championed the creation of a mobile application called Field Level Operations Watch or FLOW. It enables remote monitoring of handpumps and water systems in Africa.

Hold your ideas lightly - The Learner's Way - 17 views

  •
The history of teaching is littered with ideas that have come and gone. In their day each was the new bright hope, set to transform what we do as teachers and how our students learn. Each new idea had its supporters and detractors and each in turn was replaced by an alternative or simply disappeared from view. Those who have experienced this ebb and flow of ideas have learned to approach the shiny and the new with caution and yet we have all encountered ideas that are so compelling it is difficult to ignore. How might we approach new ideas and innovative practices in ways that ensure our students benefit?

Jumbo Bag Unloading System, Pneumatic Conveying System, Dust Collector, Cement Storage ... - 0 views

  •
The KHODIYAR INFRATECH Jumbo Bag Unloading System, also known as Jumbo bag dischargers and super sack unloaders are specifically designed to provide an easy, clean and economical way to discharge the entire contents of bulk and semi-bulk bags, especially when the material is less than free-flowing. Jumbo bags can be placed in the Jumbo bag unloader by fork lift, hoist or crane from floor level. An integral hoist on a monorail can be furnished if desired. Material can discharge by gravity into storage, a process vessel or a conveying system for transfer to another location. Modular construction of the discharge portion underneath the bed facilitates the use of a wide range of devices such as feed screws, rotary valves, lump breakers. http://www.khodiyarinfratech.com/jumbo-bag-unloading-system.html

The Social Network Paradox | TechCrunch - 18 views

  • Instead, there is a new trend happening: We’re not really paying attention to our friends we’re connected to online. Take Twitter, for example. Twitter used to be a great place for many early adopters to talk tech. It wasn’t so long ago that there were few enough people on Twitter that you could read every single tweet in your stream. But as the network began to become more dense, and people found more people they knew and liked on Twitter, they began following hundreds of people, and reading all those tweets became impossible. This is such a fact of life that entire companies are based on the premise that you have too many friends on Facebook and Twitter to really pay attention to what they’re saying.
  • Therein lies the paradox of the social network that no one wants to admit: as the size of the network increases, our ability to be social decreases.
  • As the number of bits, photos and links coming over these networks grew, each of those invisibly began to decrease in worth.
  • ...3 more annotations...
  • But as the number of friends begins to increase—particularly over that magic Dunbar number of 150—the spell begins to wear off. At this scale, we simply can’t easily keep track of it all. When our number of connections rises above 150 everything becomes simply comments, as real conversations tax our already limited ability to interface with the network.
  • That mythical thing, social connection, doesn’t flow over these networks; information flows over these networks. The only reason the network ever felt meaningful was because, at small scale, the network operated like a community. But that breaks apart at large scale.
  • The thing about all these is that they’re not a shared experience—they are my experiences, which I am sharing with you, but you probably cannot experience with me—my thoughts or fascination with the article I just posted, the feeling of getting on that plane, or the thrill of watching the Sharks tie the game. Perhaps you can compare your notes of your own experience of these things; that’s what most Twitter conversation seems to be, to me, but the experiences are not shared. This differs from a discussion in a community, such as the type that occurs on SB Nation game day threads. The conversation does not center around any one individual’s experience, but rather the collective condition of the community. The conversation is the experience. Each comment is driven with the purpose of evoking and expressing the emotions that the community experiences, and particularly the ones they hold in common.

How Fast Does Your Network Need to Be? - 0 views

  •
How Fast Does Your Network Need to Be? Even the fastest network isn't as fast as a modern PC. When your employees load applications or files off the network, delays can interrupt the flow of their work and reduce productivity. But you can cut delays by making your network as fast as technology and your budget allow. Traditional networks, which transfer data through cables and hardware routers, still offer the best performance. Ethernet, the most common traditional LAN signaling method, transfers...
