This project is designed for 2nd and 3rd grade students studying York County geography and history. Through videoconferencing technology, your class will meet students in other classes while learning about different parts of York County! Prior to the videoconference each classroom will add information to this York County wiki with clues about their city, town, and school district. The other classrooms, using maps, the Internet, textbooks, and other resources, will try to discover the location of each participating classroom. Each class will get a chance to guess, "Where in York County Are YOU?"

Join educator Bill Farren as he travels through four South American countries-three of them chosen by students. Class members will get to vote on what countries their teacher/guide visits and decide on the types of activities the class embarks on. Through their guide, students will interact with local people, ask them questions, request various media, and help solve real problems-all in an engaging format: participatory learning. The study addressed eight areas, in the following sequence: * Estimated the contributions of education and innovation (such as patents, R&D spending) to U.S. and global economic growth * Analyzed the relationship between education and access to middle-class status since 1967 and projected to 2012 * Projected the supply and demand for education in the United States to 2012 * Analyzed the relationship between educational attainment and occupational competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities, work styles, work contexts, values, and interests) based on the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Information Network (O*Net) data * Measured educational adequacy against criteria that included employability and middle-class jobs * Estimated the vulnerability of U.S. jobs to offshoring based on the characteristics of the jobs and the skills of current job holders, as reported in O*Net * Estimated the stock and growth of the global supply of educated workers
