"Law Day 2012 Video Contest Your students can enter the Connecticut Bar Association's (CBA) Law Day Contest for a chance to win a Nikon digital/video camera for your school. Law Day is a national effort to inform citizens about the importance of law and the role it plays in our everyday lives. Participation in the Law Day Video Contest is easy and educational. The Law Day 2012 theme focuses on "No Court, No Justice, No Freedom". With this national theme the Connecticut Bar Association would like to bring to Connecticut the third Law Day Video Contest. There are two categories: Middle school (grades 6-8) and High School (grades 9-12). Students are asked to make a three to five minute video that answers the following question: How would society be affected if there were no courts - therefore affecting justice and our ability to be free? Rules: *There are two categories: Category 1 is a video contest for grades 6-8. Category 2 is a video contest for grades 9-12"

From here they can embed their quizzes into their classroom sites or redirect students to the ESL Video domain. The George Lucas Educational Foundation launched Edutopia in the hopes of creating educational best practices for multimedia in the classroom. The site includes online polls, curated blogs, assessment tools and a dedicated magazine for educators at the K-12 levels. The 2009 Webby Award winning site's best content is in its library of high-production videos for teachers and educators.

Connect Safely is an organization creating materials to educate students, teachers, and parents about the safe use of social networking services. One of the resources that Connect Safely offers is a series of educational videos. The videos offer quick little lessons about what can happen to the information posted on social network sites. At Google, we support the education of families on how to stay safe online. That's why we've teamed up with online safety organization iKeepSafe to develop curriculum that educators can use in the classroom to teach what it means to be a responsible online citizen. The curriculum is designed to be interactive, discussion filled and allow students to learn through hands-on and scenario activities. "Each December, we take a look back at the year's big news with quizzes, teaching ideas and a roundup of links to interesting retrospectives around the Web. And since we're big fans, every year we link to Flocabulary's Year in Rap. Flocabulary is an online learning platform that features educational songs, videos and resources for grades K-12. For the last two years, Flocabulary has created a Year in Rap as a supplement to its popular Week in Rap, which is produced in partnership with Channel One News. This year we thought it would be fun to formally collaborate with them and offer a contest in which students are invited to write lyrics for their own mini "Years in Rap." Since Flocabulary is in the business of using rap for teaching and learning, they were enthusiastic - and even offered to provide a lesson plan to guide teachers or students new to composing in rhyme. Below, you'll find the contest rules, the lesson plan and a rubric to show what we'll be looking for in the lyrics your students post. The contest deadline is Jan. 6."
