A lengthy list of free Google Hangouts in the Education On Air series covering Chromebooks for Education, Apps, Digital Literacy, Professional Development and much more
Recap of this week's keynote at the FETC Conference in Orlando by Jaime Casap, Global Education Evangelist at Google. He told attendees about the ways technology has -- and will continue to -- change K-12 education. Among other things, Casap said technology is causing students to learn in new ways and is providing them with almost constant access to information. The changing landscape, Casap said, makes it even more important for teachers to have access to professional development and for there to be a focus on digital leadership in schools.
I 100% agree with this article, they nailed it. This is what we have seen in our church over the last decade and I am seeing with other churches I am working on developing a plan too.
I have not used livecode.com myself, but this video goes over the simplistic nature of the programming language and how well it works for student learning of programming concepts. Check out the impressive portfolio of real apps online out on the web. It might be great for development of church or school apps too.
Another option for online Learning Management Systems. Seems geared more towards higher-ed/professional development. Lots of really great tools, though!
I had a friend recommend this site, he says it is great for collaboration with others on their church's video team for developing content. It is a tool that let's you annotate and comment videos, like you would a Doc in Google.
One caution with this link. One of the apps mentioned "Four Spiritual Laws" does not reflect our theology, and can't be recommended as a tool to share our faith. Perhaps this could serve as an encouragement to develop an app that does share our faith and accurately reflects our theology.
Thanks for the review and caution. I tagged this quick so I wouldn't lose it but hadn't looked at the recommendations in detail. Always good to exercise discernment.
