As a computer science student, I thank you for this. I've never heard of scratch, but it looks extremely interesting.

Create timelines, share them on the web | Timetoast timelines - 59 views

  •
What a useful website for creating timelines. I used one in the past but it was not as detailed as this site. I like how it lets you know if there is already an existing timeline on your suggested topic. This is definitely a timeline that I will share and use.
  •
I had to quit using Timetoast in 2011 because of their advertising. Evidently they've changed their policy and in 2012 their ads were not objectionable. Timetoast is easy, interactive--it's got lots going for it. You can embed the timelines in a website. Recommended!

There are many Web 2.0 tools that can be used to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. It is important to understand that we are using all these tools to practise basic literacy skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) and engage and motivate students. You may need to register to use the tool but it is free and if you use the same email address and password for all registrations it's simple. Please try them and let us know how you went by commenting. Your feedback will help us all.

Cropping YouTube Videos to Create Activities - 39 views

  •
SafeShare.TV is a tool that has two primary functions. The first is to enable you to share YouTube videos using a direct URL that frames the video without the advertising and other distracting features that might cause students to wander off into less suitable materials. The second and perhaps even more useful function of SafeShare.TV is that it enable you to crop the video clip so that only a particular part is shown. This is particularly useful when you want to build activities or tasks around clips that focus students on particular linguistic features.
