Convert spreadsheet cells to HTML tables by copy and paste. This site was created by a fellow online producer at the Orlando Sentinel. I've found it to be rather helpful for presentation of data.

For challenge 1-f, I took a recipe and reformatted it using the tags I learned to use from the lectures.

This is a clear and simple introduction for newbies like me. I'm willing to learn from any source possible. So the more intros I get, the better.

I came across this site dealing with HTML through Google. Browsing through, I found it to be great, even for myself, a stone cold beginner to this stuff. It's pretty much a complete tutorial regarding HTML starting from the most basic parts all the way to the advanced material and know-how. In the page itself you will see [Previous] and [Next] buttons which walk you to the next level of the tutorial, down the left side of the page is each part of the tutorial. Hope this helps!

I was browsing through the web and found that there is a "Viewable With Any Browser" campaign. Has anyone heard of such a campaign? It really stresses the importance of designing text and images that do not require the "this page is best viewed with Browser X" message.

Monica mentioned a web browser called Opera Dragonfly. Here is a site with more information. It is supposed to be good at debugging Javascript and editing CSS.

You can find everything about XHTML from this site. It is helpful because it contains links to many other sites that has even more information.

HTML Help was created by the Web Design Group, which was founded to "promote the creation of non-browser specific, non-resolution specific, creative and informative sites that are accessible to all users worldwide." If you check the site out, there is an HTML Validator, CSS Checker, Help Forums, and more! Style Guides, Image info, you name it!

This gives you everything you basically need to know about HTML tags, which is what separates one section of code from another. This will be a useful reference for those who are still confused about how to write legible code.

Not only will my recipe web page provide you with a tasty treat, but it can also serve as an example of a validated XHTML page. Fabulous!

This site tells how to add links to your Website using HTML coding. Links are a key to the interactivity of the Internet, so I thought it would be good to know.

This shows how to set up style sheets so you don't have to reinvent the wheel every time you want to design an element similar to what you did last time. This makes it easier for type, color and other elements to have a continuity and to feel more cohesive. It also saves valuable time if you know you are going to use a certain design style over and over.

Strengths: Free to join, offers tutorials and widgets, you have access to other Angelfire pages broken up by genre Weaknesses: Once you exceed certain bandwidth, you must pay. Also, I think a page that hadn't been edited in years was deleted.

Angelfire's been around for quite a while, though they haven't grown as quickly with people's needs, I think. The downside is no access to databases or programming, which for free is fine. Another upside is that it is a Lycos site, so probably (though I'm not sure) few problems with downtime or slow servers. (+10)

I don't remember having problems with downtime or slow servers using Angelfire (are those the same as time out errors?); however, I could see how your additional downsides would affect advanced programmers.

When choosing text and background colors, it's useful to have a hex code chart to make sure you're choosing the color you really want. I like Webmonkey's chart because the color boxes are a little bigger than most other charts. Plus, they also provide the HTML coding to change the background color in case you forget. -- The Web Developer's Resource

Good call on WebMonkey. That was one of the first sites I ever used when I was learning HTML in undergrad. I loved it! Plus, how can you not love it with a name like that!
