Creating A Guestbook Using PHP and MySQL - PHP MySQL Tutorial - 0 views

For anyone who attempts the guestbook challenges, this tutorial looks like it will offer some solid guidance. Thank goodness for those kind-hearted programmers who do what they can to help the simpletons. :)

Javascript Tutorial - 0 views

  •
Another great beginners' tool. What I like about this site are the links within the tutorial that allow you to locate almost anything (Javascript wise) you could possibly be looking for (IE: checkbox selection, popups/alerts). It is also organized in a pristine manner which is of utmost importance.

This is something I've created recently. I use PayPal for the "store side" of the site. I've recieved a few orders here and there...no million dollars yet, but everything adds up (eventually). I had been using AdWords...but had to recently suspend that service due to lack of funds in my own pocket. I just registered for Google Analytics and will be sure to email you a snap shot of the screen. The "store" side is located under products.

Guestbook - 0 views

  •
This is a Guestbook for my photo site that I made back for module 2. i wanted to have the entries be displayed like a blog, with the most recent posts displaying on top of the older ones so in the SELECT.... i used the ORDER BY feature to do this. i also noticed that everytime i loaded the page, an empty posting would show up on the guestbook, so in the SELECT i had to specific WHEN something specific was happening... aka.... when the name field was filled out. that is why there is a *required next to the name input

i am re-bookmarking this site and re-tagging it with the mod 2 tag, because i have adjusted things a bit in my FTP... organized things a bit. So the old site bookmarked with the url http://thisandthat.nfshost.com/picturehome.html WILL NOT WORK ANYMORE. to reach that page, you need to hit this url: http://thisandthat.nfshost.com/moduletwo/picturehome.html which is the page bookmarked here. i did this because i am adjusting somethings on this page for mod 4 and when im done, i will retag with mod 4 challenges, but im not ready, at this point in time 3/10/09 to do that yet.

Web Programming :: 2-3: Columnated - 0 views

  •
Getting columnated is a little tricky for beginners like myself. In lecture 2-3: Columnated, I added a comment with a link to a site that lays out the fundamentals of the language used. I think this would be especially helpful to someone who aspires to be a web producer because a producer needs to speak in html and css language. The link is http://css.maxdesign.com.au/floatutorial/definitions.htm

Viddler Comment @ 28:43. I'm having some issues when using the "#" for divs on Smultron (on a Mac).
  •
I found that the "margin: auto;" tag does not work in IE7. I looked for a work around, but it appears that inline styles may be the only way. Thanks Microsoft. :-)
  •
Viddler comment at 7:56. I am not sure if I bookmarked this correctly, at all!

There is a comment and link on the third video, second module for challenge 2-b. It may be found at 1:24. Thanks.
  •
Made a few comments regarding photoshop and other aspects to the 2-column layout. Long lecture, but helpful in understanding the layout neccessities.

JQuery Effects - 0 views

I have used two jquery effects on this page. The hide effect and the animate effect.

Best to get in the habit of keeping script & css in other files. Otherwise nice work.

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. Unobtrusive Jquery for webprog-5-e. Nav bar is dimmed at 40 percent, and goes to 100 percent on hover. After hover, it returns to 40 percent. The whole div takes the effect. BTW, this is how I called my div in Jquery: $("#mydiv"). Took me almost 3 hours to find that out. :)

A Long Way GoneQuiz - 0 views

  •
Oh my gosh, it works. After two days of trying to figure out why perfectly good code wouldn't work, Dr. Halavais told me that I had to zap gremlins in my PHP text, because the text was imported. Anyhow, I'm currently teaching my freshmen a book called A Long Way Gone, and since I need to find interactive ways to keep their interest buoyant, I thought this quiz might actually work in my own classroom. Thanks to Jen Rock and Dr. Halavais for their help in getting this accomplished.

One more php challenge - a photo gallery that uses a dropdown selection form. Both pages validate. I also placed the dropdown form on the results page for ease of use. Special thanks to Evamarie for helping me figure this one out!

A Basic Validator - 0 views

A no-frills javascript validator that checks for blank spaces and makes sure the correct type of character is used. Still thinking about totally foolproof email validation. Not too good for security, though, since javascript can be turned off by the user.

Dice - 0 views

  •
When you asked for a visual depiction of something that looks like dice, I wasn't really sure if you meant game dice, or Andrew Dice Clay, so I included both. Which serendipitously happens to cover the "two dice" requirement as well... right? :) Tee hee hee. Anyway, here you'll find some html, css and php combined with images.
  •
Ummm. It's a nice idea, but I'm looking for a visual depiction of the actual dice. So, if you roll a three, a three on the dice should show up, etc.

This is a simple document that explains how to add an API. It breaks down the different types and the pros and cons of each. As I searched for API info this one seemed the easiest to digest.
