Rate Your QU Courses and Professors - SoC Graduate Program - 0 views

  •
Here is my final ICM505 assignment. I chose to do the course rating challenge, using all of the courses in the Communications graduate program that are to be offered next semester. Many thanks to everyone who submitted reviews - much appreciated! And a HUGE shoutout to Dr. Halavais for helping me troubleshoot those last few errors. You saved me much grief! I hope you all like it!!!

Here we have two dropdown menus (you won't see the second until you make a selection in the first), the second of which is dependent on the selection within the first. Right now, that is all that happens. I wanted to get a little fancier, and may still if I have time, but wanted to get it in as is for right now in case I don't get to snazz it up. Enjoy!

Rate Your Professors - Form - 0 views

I've begun to create the professor ratings page that I plan to complete for the final module. Here, I use javascript to display the form or hide the form depending on user input. If someone has javascript deactivated, those buttons do not appear (so as not to confuse them when they wouldn't work anyway). Hope you like it! I plan to build on this for the next module.

Here is my variation on the Baseball Cards challenge. There are 3 different images to choose from, and the info displayed after submission (as well as the drop down itself) is generated from a database table. If you'd like to learn more about my friends & family, take a peek!

Required Email Addy and Name - 0 views

This is a link to a working comments page (linked to a database table) which requires a valid name and email address before submission using Javascript. An error message appears & fades at the bottom of the form if something is omitted. I also made the same thing happen using PHP, so there are also messages at the top of the page from that code. I got the Javascript from http://www.leigeber.com/2008/04/dynamic-inline-javascript-form-validation/, and included this citation in my js page. Upon submission, a thank you message appears at the top of the form.

Woohoo! Now you can read comments others have written as well as submitting your own. I'm way excited here!

Insert Recipe Comments - 0 views

Here is my first venture in MySQL. You can leave comments on the bottom of the slightly restyled recipe page. Can't view them yet (that's phase 2), but they insert into the database.

I can't believe it. I actually figured this out!! After staring at it for about 2 weeks, I finally saw what I did wrong! Wow, do I feel some major relief! Enjoy the dropdown, folks. I know I will, now that I made it work.

Nancy's Fibonacci Sequence - 0 views

Finally! The mistake I was making was silly, and I was so annoyed at myself when I realized what it was. Here in all of its purple glory (it's my favorite color, so prepare to see lots of it this semester), I present to you my Fibonacci sequence.

Here is a new 3-page site filled with some new info about me as well as some fun animations. I used a 2-column layout to keep my cartoon self and links list in place, have CSS working on my background images and added a new, snazzy, horizontal, unordered list menu. Hope you like it!

This may be my new favorite coding assistant. I found it on the Web Developer's Handbook, as linked to from CSS Zen Garden's CSS Resource Guide. Seriously, this rocks.

Snickerdoodle Cookies - 0 views

I had a lot of fun with revamping the look of my recipe page. I added a background image, jazzed up fonts & colors, had some fun with my bullets and even figured out how to add blinking text! One of the sites I got from CSS Zen Garden's CSS Resource Guide (listed as Web Developer's Handbook, which I will also bookmark) was a huge help. Enjoy!

Not only will my recipe web page provide you with a tasty treat, but it can also serve as an example of a validated XHTML page. Fabulous!

About Me - 0 views

I figured I would use this 3-page site to tell a little more about myself (and, hopefully, make you laugh a little bit). It is very simple, but it should give you a little more insight into what you're dealing with.

Hahaha. Thanks, man. We made 3 that day (the third went to my nephew for XMas), and they give them to you in clear plastic bags. So The best part of the whole experience was the reaction from people I passed on the streets of Manhattan!

Here's a very concise paragraph to give a quick introduction to the world of Nancy. it doesn't say too much about me, but I'm sure more will be revealed in time.

HTML Color Names - 0 views

W3Schools is an amazing resource. I used it in my last ICM class (512) for tutorials in XHTML and CSS. This particular page provides the hexadecimal codes for many colors that we can use in web pages as we go through our class challenges. Hope it helps! (I use it all the time!)
