The Data Cube vocabulary provides a means to do this using the W3C RDF (Resource Description Framework) standard. The model underpinning the Data Cube vocabulary is compatible with the cube model that underlies SDMX (Statistical Data and Metadata eXchange), an ISO standard for exchanging and sharing statistical data and metadata among organizations. The Data Cube vocabulary is a core foundation which supports extension vocabularies to enable publication of other aspects of statistical data flows or other multi-dimensional data sets.

This document specifies a vocabulary for describing projects independently of the project domain (e.g. software product development, fundraising, painting the garage). The intended architecture is primarily goal-oriented, that a project will consist of goals which may be broken down into subgoals and may be satisfied by completing a set of associated tasks. TemaTres is an open source vocabulary server, web application to manage and exploit vocabularies, thesauri, taxonomies and formal representations of knowledge. TemaTres require PHP, MySql and HTTP Web server.

The LOV dataset contains the description of RDFS vocabularies or OWL ontologies defined for and used by datasets in the Linked Data Cloud. Whenever available each vocabulary includes references to the datasets using it, in particular those listed in CKAN.

Australian Education Vocabularies

DCAT is an RDF vocabulary designed to facilitate interoperability between data catalogs published on the Web. This document defines the schema and provides examples for its use. By using DCAT to describe datasets in data catalogs, publishers increase discoverability and enable applications easily to consume metadata from multiple catalogs. It further enables decentralized publishing of catalogs and facilitates federated dataset search across sites. Aggregated DCAT metadata can serve as a manifest file to facilitate digital preservation.

UMBEL (Upper Mapping and Binding Exchange Layer) has two purposes. Its first purpose is to provide a general vocabulary (the UMBEL "vocabulary") of classes and predicates for describing domain ontologies, with the specific aim of promoting interoperability with external datasets and domains. The second purpose is to provide a coherent framework of broad subjects and topics (the UMBEL "reference concepts"), suitable as binding nodes for mapping relevant Web-accessible content, also with the specific aim of promoting interoperability and to reason over a coherent reference structure and its linked resources. UMBEL presently has about 28,000 of these reference concepts drawn from the Cyc knowledge base, which are organized into more than 30 mostly disjoint SuperTypes.

Resource Description Framework (RDF) is a language for representing information about resources in the World Wide Web. This Primer is designed to provide the reader with the basic knowledge required to effectively use RDF. It introduces the basic concepts of RDF and describes its XML syntax. It describes how to define RDF vocabularies using the RDF Vocabulary Description Language, and gives an overview of some deployed RDF applications. It also describes the content and purpose of other RDF specification documents.

VoID (from "Vocabulary of Interlinked Datasets") is an RDF based schema to describe linked datasets. With VoID the discovery and usage of linked datasets can be performed both effectively and efficiently. A dataset is a collection of data, published and maintained by a single provider, available as RDF, and accessible, for example, through dereferenceable HTTP URIs or a SPARQL endpoint.
