The Journal of Information Architecture is an international peer-reviewed scholarly journal. Its aim is to facilitate the systematic development of the scientific body of knowledge in the field of information architecture.

Following the workshop in Video on the Web, the goal of the Video in the Web activity is to make video a "first class citizen" of the Web. Video on the Web (and this includes audio, as the two are typically used together) has seen explosive growth, improving the richness of the user experience but leading to challenges in content discovery, searching, indexing and accessibility. Enabling users (from individuals to large organizations) to put video in the Web requires that we build a solid architectural foundation that enables people to create, navigate, search, link and distribute video, effectively making video part of the Web instead of an extension that doesn't take full advantage of the Web architecture.

Architecture of the World Wide Web

FaceTag is a working prototype of a semantic collaborative tagging tool conceived for bookmarking information architecture resources. It aims to show how the flat keywords space of user-generated tags can be effectively mixed with a richer faceted classification scheme to improve the system information architecture. Facets constitute an adaptive classification system capable to represent both a knowledge in movement (like that of collaborative environments) and several mental models at the same time. The blend of tags and facets is able to empower the information scent and berrypicking capabilities of the system.

The Cloud4SOA initiative (FP7) focuses on resolving the semantic interoperability issues that exist in current Clouds infrastructures and on introducing a user-centric approach for applications which are built upon and deployed using Cloud resources. To this end, Cloud4SOA aims to combine three fundamental and complementary computing paradigms: namely Cloud computing, Service Oriented Architectures (SOA) and lightweight semantics to propose a reference architecture and deploy fully operational prototypes.

Representational state transfer (REST) is a style of software architecture for distributed hypermedia systems such as the World Wide Web. The term representational state transfer was introduced and defined in 2000 by Roy Fielding in his doctoral dissertation.[1][2] Fielding is one of the principal authors of the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) specification versions 1.0 and 1.1.[3][4]

The OSCA Foundation brings together organisations and individuals interested in ensuring interoperability between desktops and collaborative environments. It provides a discussion and exchange forum as well as a meeting place for different stakeholder to explore joint interests and define and execute appropriate actions, aiming to ensure the continued evolution and standardisation of an open vendor- and platform-neutral interoperable collaborative environment architecture.

Super Stream Collider (SSC) is a platform, which provides a web-based interface and tools for building sophisticated mashups combining semantically annotated Linked Stream and Linked Data sources into easy to use resources for applications. The system includes drag&drop construction tools along with a visual SPARQL/CQELS editor and visualization tools for novice users while supporting full access and control for expert users at the same time. Tied in with this development platform is a cloud deployment architecture which enables the user to deploy the generated mashups into a cloud, thus supporting both the design and deployment of stream-based web applications in a very simple and intuitive way.

CumulusRDF is an RDF store on cloud-based architectures. CumulusRDF provides a REST-based API with CRUD operations to manage RDF data. The current version uses Apache Cassandra as storage backend. A previous version is built on Google's AppEngine. CumulusRDF is licensed under GNU Affero General Public License.

This document specifies a vocabulary for describing projects independently of the project domain (e.g. software product development, fundraising, painting the garage). The intended architecture is primarily goal-oriented, that a project will consist of goals which may be broken down into subgoals and may be satisfied by completing a set of associated tasks. Minerva Portals is a joint effort of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Jena and the IBM Deutschland Research & Development GmbH in Boeblingen. The overall goal of this project is provide an architectural solution for the next generation Web portals. We are aiming to overcome the drawbacks and limitations of static portals and make portals more intuitive, dynamic, and flexible. In this project, we work on Web portal extensions in the following areas: * Context-awareness. By taking into account the context in which the user is acting, we can efficiently adjust the portal to fit the user's current situation, for example depending on the currently used device, time or location from which the portal is accessed. * Adaptivity. Adaptive Web portals learn from the users' behavior and make assumptions about their information needs and potential behavior throughout future sessions.

OWL is a Web Ontology language. Where earlier languages have been used to develop tools and ontologies for specific user communities (particularly in the sciences and in company-specific e-commerce applications), they were not defined to be compatible with the architecture of the World Wide Web in general, and the Semantic Web in particular.
