How to Measure Page Load Time With Google Analytics | Web Performance Blog - 8 views

  •
I've been playing around with Google Analytics' Custom Variables feature and put together a neat integration that lets us measure the real performance of visitors to our website. It's a little clumsy since Google Analytics wasn't really meant to do this, but it's good enough that many of you might find it useful.

Lively: Virtual World from Google - 0 views

  • Google has launched a new service today called Lively, a virtual world. Users can create avatars, customize them and enter virtual rooms. The virtual rooms can be embedded on external web pages via iFrames. Given the large number of Google user base this can be a hit, but we will see in the near future how it goes.

"Just like TinyURL and other URL shortening services, TinyPaste produces a short address that you can enter into microblogging and IM services with caps on message lengths. But instead of directing users to a regular webpage, a TinyPaste's URL sends its clickers to a simple page displaying the poster's message." © TechCrunch

Google's Assault On Wikipedia ~ Stephen's Web ~ by Stephen Downes - 0 views

  • Obasanjo writes, "Google is tipping it's search results to favor Knol. Or at least that is the conclusion of several search engine optimization (SEO) experts and also jibes with my experiences." He Danny Sullivan, who writes, "I was surprised to see a post covering how Knol's How to Backpack was already hitting the number three spot on Google. Really? I mean, how many links could this page have gotten already?" Also, Aaron Wall notes that "if Google notices duplicate content then it favors the content on Knol over a site that has existed for years and has decent PageRank."

- 0 views

  •
