This cartoon can be used to practice the four skills: reading, writing, speaking, listening.
Suggestion on how to use:
Before students listen/read the story, they are pre-taught some new vocabulary used in the story.
Then students can play the story in pictures while they're listening to it. They can click on the button "READ" to turn off and on the text. It's better if the first time, they listen to the story with the text on (reading while listening). Then, they will listen to the story with the text off and see if they can still understand. (listening)
When they feel confident, they can watch the story again with the text off and try to tell the story along with the pictures, without reading (speaking).
You can also ask them to write this tale down as a composition (about 250 words or more if you want to). Vocabulary can also be boosted through story. Students can also come up with their own ideas by discussing where they would go if they had a magic carpet.
I tried this with my young advance elementary students and it was pretty successful. we had also a very engaging discussion in which students said they would have gone if they have had a magic carpet. They also very much liked the cartoon itself.
Read this text about B.B. King and check the speed of your reading. This kind of activity can be helpful especially for those students who are preparing for exam programs such as IELTS.
Here you can find reading comprehension worksheets for 2nd Grade students in pdf formats. They are funny and easy to work with. If your student doesn't like to read long texts, as mine, then they are exactly what you need. At the end of every text, there are questions to check your student's reading comprehension. It worked pretty well with my student.
The PDF file includes a great range of various exercises. This activity is very useful as students learn to read and write while they are listening. Students need to read through the questions in the exercises in the practice materials before listening to the podcast. While they're scanning the text they will get an idea about what they are going to listen to. They have to read the instructions of each exercise carefully, as sometimes they must listen for the 'right' answers. But in some of these questions, they must choose the one answer that is not possible or wrong. These exercises are also appropriate for those who intend to take IELTS or iBT exams later. My students did this activity; they liked it and didn't get bored (the variety of the exercises made them busy and concentrated). I gave them some other podcasts with their support packs and saw their gradual improvement.

This is an interesting activity for kids to repeat letters, extend vocabulary, to pronounce the words correctly. For children who can read this crossword puzzle gives an opportunity to recognize words in written form and practice reading. I have practiced it with my 5 year old son and, though he can not read, he has learnt a lot of new words
This is an amazing site for students who are bored with reading, grammar and writing. One can listen to music, reading its lyrics at the same time and also read some phrasal verbs from the music below.
Describer In this game you practice reading for understanding of a description. There are a set of different vocabulary items and you have to read short description and then click on the image that is being described. Hopefully in this you can practice reading and understand in more of a context.
Susanna thank you very much for the link. I could use this in my own class and my student really like it. It contains exercises, reading, new vocabulary. Really thank you
there are a lot of exercises which enhance reading as well as accelerates writing. I gave this activity to my students and they did it with pleasure, especially those who have pets, particularly dogs in their families. Appropriate to be assigned as classwork and as homework.
This is a good source for using a simple story to motivate pre-school and first beginning students to learn English. It's easy to choose pictures and creates a story even for a 5 year old kid. My 5 years old daughter got encouraged when recognized that she made it by herself. If it's being used often children would be able to recognize words as a whole; without having the ability of reading the individual letters.
Oh Armine jan it was a very interesting game. I played it twice. It really helps the students to promote their reading skills, as well as their creativity. And the most intersting part was the last part when I was reading the story about me. I liked it very much...:)
This is a wonderful activity for developing students' listening, reading (skimming and scanning), speaking skills, as well as increasing vocabulary. it contains variety of activities which are based on the listening. Moreover, all the activities can be done both online and on paper (all materials are printable including the transcript of the audio). It contains
a pre-watching vocabulary activity
the story
a comprehension activity
a language activity about idioms
I used this material with my two intermediate students. Though the level was lower I have decided to try. In order to help them I wrote down the words/expression that they might be unknown and discussed them before listening. Then they listened to the audio but still had difficulties to understand completely what the audio was mainly about. In order to solve the misunderstanding I have decided to give the transcripts to read while listening (It helped much to understand). I used the third activity to check whether they could scan and skim the information (they could as I guess reading helped them very much). The last activity was a multiple choice activity where the students should look at the given idioms and choose the best meaning.
Suggestion- If your students are not high intermediate/advanced the process will be slowed down. Just use transcript and after listening discuss the text. It will help.
The site provides online books. Students have the opportunity to listen, read, work on the printable worksheets on the related topic, and finally take a quiz. This site may be helpful to develop students' listening, reading and writing skills.

Listen to a sentence and then click the word that's asked for. Very basis level of reading. Might work well for beginning readers who already have a solid oracy skills in English like native speaking kids.
This is a very good game for developing kids' spelling. It helps them write the name of the animal guessed, The game also gives a chace to have reading as they have to read the hints in order to be able to write the answers.
Kids can listen to and read a story in funny settings (and also through listening to songs). The story is about how Boowa helps his new friend Kwala find her family. This trick can be used for teaching kids travelling by developing their reading and listening skills. The story consists of 13 chapters, so it's better to teach them during a couple of classes.
* This painting game is good to teach or/and revise vocabulary as well as to practice listening and reading skills. I have practiced it with my 5 year old son. Though he can not read, with this activity he practiced listening, repeated known words and assimilated new vocabulary. And he enjoyed it very much! I think that other 5 -7 year old kids also will like it.
