Critical thinking is the underlying skill needed for a student to be able to develop information and media literacy. Thus, I chose an article entitled "Assignments that promote critical thinking."

Great intro video clip to explain media literacy.  Covers lots of info and concerns.  The idea of "digital citizenship" and the believe that this must be taught at an early age.

This site reviews various social networking sites that allow teens to safely communicate online , avoiding the dangers of online communications.

Simplicity and Organized--important in blogs and concept maps. Great way to spark and then keep interest.

Great way to introduce material with video and participate in learning (individual student work, group or teacher). Allows for collaboration, enhancing communication skills in portraying important information to class

What Is a "Hangout?" A Hangout is a web-based tool created by Google for communicating through video. Up to ten people can "hang out" at one time in a virtual "room." A Hangout can be as simple or as complex as needed. It can be used simply to converse or, through the use of extra apps and add-ons that Google provides, a Hangout can become a virtual meeting space.

I like the hands on idea of this video. I think students of all ages could benefit from different levels of exploration with the toy snakes.

Lots of good resources and teaching ideas, apps & games. This site should help stay current in regards to what's out there that is new and exciting

The University of Texas at Austin has a wonderful program called Français Interactif which allows students to explore at their own pace and get feedbakc on their word chokce.

Quizlet allows the teacher to make all sorts of games that students can play to improve vocabulary, spelling and grammar. Plus its mobile. Computer, tablet and phone.

A look at the value of Smartphones in education.

This discusses the world-wide impact of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) but also where they fall short. They lack the relationship between teacher and student which can be so important to learners. In fact, they said that less than 10% of those who sign up for MOOCs actually complete the course. The access to such a great opportunity to learn is wonderful, but not sufficient for all.
