MOOC.ca ~ A History of MOOCs - Massive Open Online Course The Important Beginning to Connectivism and the Future of Open Source Education

A MOOC is a Massive Online Open Course designed based on the learning theory connectivism. Since 2008, there have been a series of these free open online courses offered. This course is informed by their design and implementation. VW MOOC - Virtual Worlds, Games and Education is divided into 2 parts.

Our "Is the New Normal Anything But?" panel at the recent 2010 NUTN Summit rocked! Thanks to Susan Kannel, Lisa Cheney-Steen, and Cynthia Calongne, my fellow panelists*. The "six scenarios" seemed to provide an excellent framework for our conversation; the interaction with our audience and each other was excellent, and the discussion could have gone on for hours.

The VWBPE MOOC (Massively Open Online Course) is a "afterglow space" or "work out room" for out- of-conference REFLECTION and "muscle strengthening." REFLECTION is a "best practice" IN EDUCATION. Get your teaching muscles buffed! J Upon reflection, educators may find they experience some of the same frustrations that students face (not enough time to fully process important data).

At the UnSymposium - we spent some time and came up with a CFP for a Games and Simulation Fest for VWBPE! The crowd thought it was especially important to celebrate creativity and user created content whether it was in a very open system like Second Life or if it was developing additional quests for World of Warcraft.
