L'administration vit actuellement sa plus grande révolution depuis sa création. Sous l'effet de l'usage massif des nouvelles technologies de l'information et de la communication, toutes les procédures sont revues de fond en comble, les barrières historiques entre les différents services administratifs tombent, les données et les informations deviennent compatibles entre elles permettant un accès transparent via Internet. Les usagers (citoyens, entreprises, organisations de la société civile) participent à la création de nouvelles valeurs, l'automatisation des transactions abaissent drastiquement les coûts, la personnalisation des services rend l'administration ouverte à de nouvelles formes de collaboration, les données jusqu'alors réservées à l'usage exclusif des administrations sont mises à disposition des usagers pour de nouvelles applications en co-création dans un esprit d'open source, etc. Dans une ou deux décennies, on oubliera même de parler de e-administration. Le préfixe «e» encore attaché au terme disparaîtra tout simplement. Car ce que nous entendons par «e-administration» aujourd'hui sera l'administration de demain dans sa totalité. 

The British government is doubling down on the notion that open data can be a catalyst for increased government transparency, civic utility and economic prosperity. Yesterday, the United Kingdom's Cabinet Office hosted an event in London, England to highlight the release of a new white paper on "unleashing the potential of open data," linked at the bottom of the post, and the relaunch of a Data.gov.uk, the country's open data platform. The site now has over 9,000 data sets on it, according to the Cabinet Office.

The health industry has not always been a leader in technology adoption. The current "high touch" model where caretakers deliver services within silos of care cannot be sustained because of high costs and other concerns.
