The University of Wisconsin-Madison has jumped into the MOOC marketplace. Their new courses reflect Wisconsin and the University.

UW Madison MOOCs Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), are unique and exciting virtual teaching, learning and research experiences that are not for credit, aimed at unlimited participation and available at no cost to learners around the world. In 2013-14, UW-Madison launched four pilot MOOCs in partnership with the online education company, Coursera.

Madison launched 6 more MOOCs this week.

This course could be used to help teachers who are interested in learning more about e-learning opportunities as flipped learning, moocs, etc. are gaining popularity in schools. I know a lot of teachers in my school district who would be interested in this kind of learning.

This article caught my attention as I was considering Open Education Resources. This is a positive use of global learning offerings. It may not be available to all, but certainly might be to those who need it. "Looks like a good news for refugees worldwide as they can now pick from over 1,000 online university courses for absolutely free as part of an endeavor to offer education and skills training under a US-based program. The program was unveiled Monday, June 20 as a part of World Refugee Day."
