Hollywood Film Fest 2010 gives special attention to the "subversive comedies" in this year's lineup. With Indican marketing VP Randolph Hamilton helping to program the event, the festival helps to bring up-and-coming comedians and indie filmmakers to the spotlight.
One of Hamilton's top picks was a dark comedy by The Second City, "Buzzkill," which features two star turns: Daniel Raymont as the neurotic lead and Krysten Ritter as a smart-ass young woman. "The interchange between the two reminds me of the best of comedies from the 1970s," Hamilton says, "such as 'Harold & Maude,' when comedy had teeth instead of just being over the top."
