Learn what causes weather on Web Weather for kids. This site has activities, games, stories, and numerous ways to explain our unpredictable weather to kids. This site can be used by teachers to help explain weather concepts or show the concept in action.

This site has everything that is related to weather. The site is divided into information for students in K-5 and grades 6-12. There are fun and interesting things for students to explore and do. There is a book that can be downloaded and includes quizzes.

This is a wonderful site for the teacher that needs sites for their weather units. This is a great source for K-12 teachers. The sites range from learning about severe weather safety to coloring books for younger students.

This site has different links for all age groups including safety tips, a day in the life of an agent and FBI history. This site could be used in conjunction with literature where students could compare the day in the life of a real FBI agent compared to a fictional agent in a novel. It could also be used with the study of government.

This is a very kid friendly site. There are nonfiction articles on this site that are very engaging. The nonfiction articles that are available are great for monitoring comprehension because of the high interest level. This site provides education and information for kids of all ages.

This site gives a lesson plan on why we explore. This lesson plan is geared toward the study of space, but I feel it could be adapted to the study of explorers in history. Great activity and very engaging for students. Many of the literacies are covered in this lesson plan.

This would be great site for fifth graders. Gives background and information about each of the states and links to more stories about that state.

This site provides primary documents with their transcriptions surrounding the Salem Witch Trials. Included are images of court records, books, and personal letters. The images can be made larger, and while students would not be able to read most of the document, the image brings life to the source. Having the transcription so that students can read what was actually said is powerful. Middle school and high school students would find the information fascinating. It would partner well with social studies and literature.

This site has many primary documents throughout our history. There are 362 searchable primary document collections. As I looked through this site, it seemed to have a lot of photos throughout history. It would be a valuable resource to any multimedia project in the media center.

Researchers can locate primary sources by topic, such as African American, Asian Americans, Civil War, Native Americans, just to name a few. Photos can be enlarged and pdf sheet music can be printed. Great resource for history, art, and literature.

Attractive web design with simulations of satellites stations. Good job of explaining reconnaissance and satellites. Includes audio with separate buttons for elementary and secondary students. Recommended for grades 3 - 8. Provides links with extensive resources for parents and teachers.

This site is exciting! Using satalite images, the site creates books on different topics, including games, simulations, the use of satellites, the solar system and more. The main page provides links for K-5, 6-12, parents, and teachers. The teacher link includes lesson plans, a link to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, plus many more additional links.

I liked the educational direction this site provides for teachers. Besides the documents, this site provides lessons using the primary documents, and training on best practices for their use.

Thousands of narrative excerpts giving first person accounts of slavery and the individuals it affected. These are accounts of the cruelty and plantation life. There are also hundreds of photos of former slaves.

This site contains narratives of past slaves that were created in the late 1930's. This site, which is a part of the Library of Congress, provides excellent primary sources that respresent a group of people whose voice was often not heard. Teachers and students could use this site when studying the Civil War and slavery, the Civil Rights movement, writing using dialect, to partner with an historical fiction novel that touches on the subject of slavery, and more.

This site explains disasters of all kids. It focuses on weather. hiss site would be useful when teaching weather and getting kids to understand the different aspects of weather. It's also good to know about the different kinds of disasters so you can be prepared! Kids love learning about different disasters they are unfamiliar with.

This site gives information about Federal Emergency Management Agency. It provides links to games and interactive sites that help kids understand the agency, what it does, types of weather emergencies and how to be prepared for weather emergencies. This would be a good addition/extension to a weather unit in 3rd-5th science curriculum.

An animated site geared toward elementary students with information on FEMA. Includes follow up quizzes, template for planning family disaster drills and an interactive map showing current FEMA efforts in U. S. disaster areas. Good companion to current events and science.

Good source for information on how U.S, currency is made. Good section on counterfeit currency. Recommended for secondary students.
