Wow! This site has a wealth of sources for the science teacher looking for great science projects, cool things to do with kids in agriculture, and podcasting of neat experiments. There is even something for the counselors helping students that want a career in the sciences.

This is a site for science as it relates to agriculture. It has experiments and activities. There are videos and slide shows to watch on a variety of topics. If you are studying careers, there is a section on science jobs related to agriculture. There are also links to various ag related sites.

This site explains to kids how our government operates on their own level. The branches of government are explained, website links are included and there are games that can be played. There are great lessons that can be used for every grade.

This is an amazing site, fun for kids and perfect for all grades. As a 3rd grade teacher, I found many items on the 3-5 grade level applicable to my SS program. For example, Citizenship, Your Neighborhood and Beyond, and How Laws are Made all match my curriculum and clarify these complicated processes into simple terms. I know my kids would love to match the states game under Interactive Games.

This is a good site for information on the Federal government, and it is broken down by age levels. There are games and activities for each age level. There are also links at each age level to different government sites.

This site has been of interest to every teacher I tell about it. It contains virtual trips of a large variety of books for all age groups. You need google maps to use this site as it is map based. Takes books to where they take place and shows you on the map or with photos of what the characters would see. A new way to look at books.

This is the official site for the state Govenor's mansion. It has photos of the mansion, and a virtual tour. There is also a section for reminiscences of various first ladies of Nebraska.

This is a NASA site that had sections geared for students. There are also lesson plans for all grades, K-12. There are also a variety of mulitmedia resources. Some of the information that can be found is NASA's history, earth, technology, space, space missions, and how NASA had affected our lives.

This site has information on the unicameral and it's history in Nebraska. IT has photos of the state capitol and our senators. There are also links for other sites about Nebraska. If you are planning a trip to the capitol, there is a page on how to make easier.

On this site you can find biographical information on all NASA astronauts. There are also pages on international astronauts, and how to become an astronaut as well information on living in space. This site also has pictures and information on the history of the space program.

A richly interactive site where visitors can design and create varied genres of art. A virtual tour through the NGA has an accompanying guide in 5 languages. Extensive information on artists from all eras. Lots of activities at the teacher's site. A good instructional site. Grades 3-12.

This art site allows children to explore American Folk art, landscapes, abstract art, still life, and digital photography. Children are able to manipulate art to create their own pieces. Students can also create a tropical jungle. There are additional online resources for teachers, as well as a link to exhibits from the National Art Gallery.

This page contains several art activities for children, including interactive art programs that allow students to create portraits or still life pictures. There is a link that allows students to search for specific artists or works. This site would be a good resource for art teachers, but English teachers could also use it to find different works of art that appeal to kids and could be used for descriptive writing assignments.

This site contains links to help students better understand weather maps, weather symbols, and weather systems. The students could use the weather symbols information in conjunction with local weather newscasts to predict their local weather.

This site provides information about the various branches of the U.S. government, all of the U.S. presidents, the current administration, current issues, and the White House itself. It would be a good resource for social studies or history students

This page allows you to search historical newspaper articles throughout history. Students would love this site to research events throughout history by looking at these old newspapers.

This site offers newspaper pages from 1860 to 1992 from various states, including Nebraska. Seeing the front page headlines from a newspaper printed at the time of a historical event could give students a better understanding of how people living at that time viewed the event.

This drawing submitted by Eli Whitney for his cotton gin patent application could be used at the elementary level when discussing Whitney's invention and its impact. Students will be able to see what a cotton gin looks like and how it operates. This document could also be used at the senior high level when discussing patent applications.

This site contains original works of poetry from 19th century American authors, including John Greenleaf Whittier, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and James Whitcomb Riley. It may be useful in American Literature classes if the student is seeking examples of a poet's work different from the standard poems found in anthologies and textbooks.

This site offers students information about the Johnson Space Center and the programs it supports. There are links for student activities and student internships. There is even a link where students can obtain grade-level appropriate information about careers available at NASA.

Ben's guide is a gov doc that teaches about the US government. I accessed the section for 3-5 grades. This included information about historical documents, branches of the government and the election process. There is a glossary of terms and a list of other government websites. It is "narrated" by Ben Franklin

Web site navigation is primitive. May use as a reference, but not as a stand alone tool for students as the weather and cloud unit is in second grade and the web site reading level and navigation are a bit higher level. Cloud concentration worked, but not cloud matching. Lincoln Public - science - weather - second grade Understand how to measure weather conditions (temperature, wind direction and precipitation). Identify the three main types of clouds (cumulus, cirrus and stratus). Measure, record and explain the changes in temperature, wind direction, precipitation and types of clouds over five days. Identify the causes of thunder and lightning and ways to stay safe around them. Identify the causes of tornadoes and safety measures during them.

This is an amazing site for younger grades to learn about space exploration. This site provide amazing images with detailed description about the image. Students can even track the space station as it orbits around the earth.

Buzz Lightyear module includes international space station module information. Games and activities are familiar format, i.e. memory matching, but there is also technical information included. Name and describe the parts of the solar system. Describe the motion of objects in the sky such as sun, moon and planets. Develop an understanding of asteroids, meteoroids and comets in our solar system as well as stars beyond our solar system.

The Smithsonian has webpages for students, families, and teachers. The student site has primary sources in the format of pictures and video footage. They are called IdeaLabs on this site. The IdealLab I found interesting was the Walk on the Moon. It included a video footage from the Apollo landing on the moon and President Kennedy's address to the nation.

This website organizes some of the Smithsonian Institution's vast resources into four topics for students to explore: art, science, history and people/places. There are incredible virtual tours, online interactive labs, games and activities. The site has an educator's section with lesson plans and a search feature to find resources by keyword, grade, and subject.

Explore art, science, history, and people like never before. If you teach the solar system, plate tectonics, volcanoes, or rocks and minerals the Dynamic Earth site is for you. I was so impressed being able to go online and zoom in on hundreds of different rocks, minerals, and gems. Fascinating!
