Here at Archiving Early America you will discover a wealth of resources - a unique array of primary source material from 18th Century America. Scenes and portraits from original newspapers, magazines, maps and writings come to life just as they appeared to this country's forebears more than 250 years ago.

This is a primary source that covers everything from documents to maps to autobiographies of famous 18th century Americans.

This site contains original works of poetry from 19th century American authors, including John Greenleaf Whittier, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and James Whitcomb Riley. It may be useful in American Literature classes if the student is seeking examples of a poet's work different from the standard poems found in anthologies and textbooks.

This is going to be one database which I will go to over and over again. It has an awesome section titled Teacher Resources which looks like a very interesting place to visit often. It has a section on the 21st Century literacies. It also has a curriculum collaboration section. This will be helpful because many schools are going to a lot of cross curricular activities. It has another section about ethical researching. This is one of the things that I think students have difficulty understanding and especially internet based information. Many students think because it is on the "net" it is true. I found an awesome feature. If a school is using google apps there is support on this site for them if they are having trouble with this application. There is a blog on this site as well. The last section which I thought is really nice is the sticky note cards which are available. Be sure to check out this site; its features are great.

This site has a large amount of information regarding anything you might want to know about slave history in a variety of locations. There are narratives, court records, newspapers, and much more.

An exhaustive collection of documents, films, books, etc.,organized by century chronicling over 400 years of African American history in America. Highly recommended for middle-secondary history or literature projects.

This website is designed for use in education and features historical documents and images of historical artifacts, mainly from early american history in New England. Super cool tool in the Just 4 Kids section is the Magic Lens -- which "translates" old cursive writing of primary documents into a more easily read font. I also found interesting the images of everyday artifacts. Excellent resource for "Thanksgiving" history.

This site contains primary documents to help students understand what was happening when our country was seeking independence and after we became an independent nation. I know that the journals of the continental congress would be intersting to some students.
