Here at Archiving Early America you will discover a wealth of resources - a unique array of primary source material from 18th Century America. This site could be very useful in either a history or language arts class.

A project of Emory University, this website contains database information for slave ship voyages across the Atlantic. It has tables, timelines, essays, maps and images related to the slave trade plus an African names database. There is a section with lesson plans for middle/high school level students and additional web resources. This website humanizes the transportation history of slavery in the Americas.

This site includes material about famous Americans. This site would work for any reports about presidents, about authors, or about musicians. It would also be helpful when researching the various states. As an American Literature teacher I would use the site to have students research Langston Hughes, for instance. That would also be a great source for Black History Month.

This site is geared for children. It has famous people, places, hobbies, and different time periods to explore. This is a good site to share with kids because it is easy to understand and use as a research tool.

Students will be able to learn more about famous Americans, they can "Jump Back in Time" to read about important events that have taken place in history such as the Revolutionary War, WWII, Western Expansion, Colonial America and many, many more.

This page allows you to search historical newspaper articles throughout history. Students would love this site to research events throughout history by looking at these old newspapers.

This site offers newspaper pages from 1860 to 1992 from various states, including Nebraska. Seeing the front page headlines from a newspaper printed at the time of a historical event could give students a better understanding of how people living at that time viewed the event.

An exhaustive collection of documents, films, books, etc.,organized by century chronicling over 400 years of African American history in America. Highly recommended for middle-secondary history or literature projects.

This PBS site has a ton of information about the Holocaust teachers can use to create lessons about the Holocaust.

The largest maritime museum in North America. The website provides valuable information on seafaring and oceanic voyages. The online image collection features over 2,000 images for personal or commercial use. Use this site as a primary resource for the study of explorers in Social Studies. Several biographies are given for explorers like John Cabot, Vasco Balboa, Magellan, and Amerigo Vespucci.

An excellent resource for students researching the Holocaust. Probably more useful for the high school student who wants transcripts/interviews/actual documents from world leaders who were involved in policy decisions during this time. PBS, a reliable trusted resource.

This would be great site for fifth graders. Gives background and information about each of the states and links to more stories about that state.
