Cyberbee Internet Safety - 0 views

This site is a resource for teachers and parents on internet safety for younger students. There are many links to additional sites that provide much more detailed information. The advantage of this site is you don't have to search out all the different sites.

This site is like some other sites we have looked at where you can colaberate with others on a web site. The thing I liked about this site is you can add pictures and documents when you are working.

Internet4Classrooms - Helping Students, Teachers and Parents Use - 1 views

This site was loaded with stuff for all levels Pre K - 12. The site featured tabs at the top of the page as well as the side for easy clicking. With tools focusing on Assessments, Tech Tutorials, K-12 Links and Daily Dose of the Web, there were a ton of references and tools for all teachers. You can also sign up for their newsletter on this site. The most appealing thing to me was the simple nature of the site, very easy to navigate. There were some ads, however, they were very toned down and easy to avoid if you wanted. Provided by Google, they were not obnoxious.

At first, I didn't realize that this was a government website. Users can look just by topics and then look by topics. The main purpose of the website is not just child safety online, but rather overall safety (i.e. avoiding identity theft). When the user looks at the child privacy portion of the site, parents are able to find several helpful and an easy to read site. Overall, I think this would be a great site for the novice internet user.

This site was very cool. There are more specific links geared towards Science. The site had links to Yoursky, MyStarsLive, Starlab and NASA. Again, this would not be one that every teacher could use, but the applications could be used in areas like Math and even part of a thematic unit in Reading/Writing. The one thing I didn't like about the site was the advertisements that looked like links to other tools.

Teaching Materials - 0 views

This site was pretty cool, especially for Nebraska educators. This was the Official Nebraska Government Website for Teaching Materials. This site was mainly aimed towards History teachers, but it could probably be used by a variety of teachers. As a substitute at Boys Town, I would use it to educate students from other areas of the country about Nebraska. The downfall on this site is that it's very Nebraska centered. This might limit its usefulness to teachers from other states.

This site is a great resource designed to assist teachers in teaching language arts. It provides a variety of resources from teaching comprehension, poetry to providing author studies. One of my favorite components of the site is the extensive selection of printable Readers Theatre. The author of the site even has a blog!

This site provides free podcasts or audio files you can stream that address most levels of learners, from beginning to advanced speakers. It would also be a great site for students to use over the summer so they don't get behind!

Great site for activities, experiments, and demonstrations students and teachers can do. Many of the experiments are relatively easy and not resource intensive. If materials are difficult to come by, people can buy them from the site.

This article is an excellent resource for students as they cover specific books in class. This site offers chapter summaries and character descriptions to help students understand information from the text. There are also quizzes to assist students in studying for tests. This site is an especially useful resource in studying the works of Shakespeare, as it offers modern-day language translations.

This is site where you create web like maps with others. The site look really amazing however I have not been able to spend more time on it yet to really see the true value yet. There is a section for educators that lowers the fees. There is also a free option where they strip down the functionality.
