7 Best Tools to Create Comic Strips Online - 1 views

"Comics have also been used to address social issues as well. They have done so over the years and while having controversial story lines they have helped to raise awareness about important issues. A comic can be an easy way to put your views (or make a joke easily!) and grab readers attention. If you can make your visitor smile, all the better. An engaged, smiling visitor will crawl longer and will be more likely to remember you."

Social media 'comes of age,' Nielsen says - The Washington Post - 1 views

"That's the latest number from the Social Media Report, an annual snapshot by Nielsen and NM Incite. The report says that Facebook is still the top social network, though its tally of unique visitors has fallen 4 percent from the same time last year. Blogger, the second-place network, also saw a slight decline (3 percent) while third-place Twitter saw a gain of 13 percent. Wordpress, likewise, saw a 10 percent jump. The break-out social media star of the past year has been Pinterest, the report said, which jumped 1,047 percent from the same time last year. And since its Sept. 2011 debut, Google+ has grown 80 percent."

"CourseTalk is what you might expect - an early stage Yelp for MOOCs - a place for students to share their experiences with these courses and a way to discover new courses they'd enjoy. Given that it's still nascent, the platform's design is simple and its user experience is straightforward: Visitors can use the general search bar which is front and center, or peruse through "Top Rated," "Popular" and "Upcoming" verticals, or search by category, like Business, Computer Science, etc."

Navigation: You Are Here - 0 views

  •
"Designers make navigation structures to help people move through websites, but good structure and function are not enough. Navigation should not only show where you can go but also where you are now. Each page on a website could be the first page your website visitors see, so it's important to convey enough context so that people can proceed immediately toward their goals."

Have You Thought About Your Digital Self Lately? - 0 views

  •
"Why do practitioners in higher education, student affairs, and students services always go to the "tool" question first? Why do we want to know what's "hot" with the digital, social technologies?"
