BT Group's Group Strategy Director, Sean Williams, continued the
discussion on extending services by identifying how the existing copper
networks should continue to be used for many years ahead. He said: "We
are moving at the pace of our customers and there is a lot that can be
done with copper. Our business case is predicated on getting 20 per cent
of our copper customers onto fibre, but I think it's completely naive to
expect to get everyone on fibre -- not for a generation."
