Design of Copper-Clad Aluminum Winding Alternator for Vehicle Application - 0 views

  •
"Copper-clad aluminum wire which is composed of aluminum core clad with ETP copper was exploited to solve the problem of the copper price increasing by replacing traditional copper wire with copper-clad aluminum wire in the alternator for vehicle application. The aluminum winding alternator parameter was designed and the alternator was tested. The test data show that copper-clad aluminum can offer most of the advantages of aluminum, such as having lighter weight and lower cost than copper, but without the main perceived disadvantages of aluminum. With right parameter and well welding, aluminum winding can replace copper winding to reduce the alternator cost. "

Copper-Clad Aluminum Wiring-creating problems where there are none. - 0 views

  • To start, the stuff is made with the AA-8000 aluminum alloy. This alloy became the required standard for aluminum wiring to resolve the problems of the poor quality aluminum wiring used prior to 1972 (AA-1350 aluminum). Adding the copper cladding allowed the wire to be connected to devices that did not have to be rated for “aluminum.” In fact, brand new, 2014, receptacles that are Tamper Resistant, come rated for both copper and copper-clad wires. This is a testament to the fact that receptacle manufacturers do not see a problem with copper-clad wiring.

High strength alloys - CCA - 0 views

  • Copper ranks second to silver as an electrical conductor. The copper cladding of LEONI Histral® H16 ensures a good electrical conductivity whenever mechanical properties do not play a primary role.
  • High-frequency (HF) technology In HF technology the so-called „skin effect“ ensures that the current flow is restricted to a very thin layer situated on the surface of the conductor and that the overall resistance in the conductor is reduced. LEONI Histral® H16 has copper, which features good electrical, in the cladding only. The additional galvanic plating of the surface causes the skin effect to be optimized. Aeronautics and automotive technology Weight is of major importance for the construction of airplanes and automobiles. LEONI Histral® H16 is particularly suited for larger cross-sections here that can be employed for the transmission of power, where there is a significant weight reduction potential. Shielding braids LEONI Histral® H16 features a resistivity lending itself well to shielding braids because high coverage can be achieved at a comparatively low weight. The fact that aluminum suffers from the drawback of having a poor contact resistance is largely offset by the copper cladding. Heating applications The combination of a relatively good resistance value with a rather low mechanical resilience suggest that LEONI Histral® H16 may well be used in all kinds of heating applications that are not exposed to a permanently varying level of stress.

USA - CommScope to supply Groundsmart™ Copper Clad Steel grounding wire to B... - 0 views

  •
CommScope, Inc. will supply the Bishop Hill Wind Farm in Henry County, Illinois with its GroundSmart(TM) Copper Clad Steel solution, an alternative to solid and stranded copper that is increasingly in demand by utilities for its cost-efficiency and anti-theft characteristics. CommScope will provide 1.7 million feet of GroundSmart copper clad steel grounding wire to the project this year--the largest GroundSmart application to date. The Bishop Hills Wind Farm will include approximately 130 wind turbines. Developers of Bishop Hill said that they see GroundSmart as a simple solution to reducing projects costs without compromising the system's integrity. Copper clad steel is specifically designed to disperse fault currents and lightning strikes at a lower total cost of ownership compared to pure copper.

North American Windpower: Content / FYI / CommScope To Supply Two Wind Projects With Co... - 1 views

  • CommScope Inc., a provider of infrastructure solutions for communications networks, will supply two wind farm projects with its GroundSmart Copper Clad Steel solution, an alternative to solid and stranded copper. The first project is the 200 MW Breckenridge wind farm, located outside Breckenridge, Mich. The 30,000-acre wind farm will use stranded copper clad steel in the ground grid collector system. The project is estimated to produce 200 MW.

Counterfeit communications cabling infrastructure - 0 views

  •  “CCCA is raising the alarm again and cautioning by citing real-life failures with copper clad aluminum (CCA) communication cables offered by low cost, online suppliers,” comments Frank Peri, CCCA executive director. “These suppliers promote and advertise CMR or CMP cables that bear counterfeit certification marks or have no listing or verification marks from independent third-party testing laboratories. Using the lure of low price, some online suppliers can entice customers unaware of the true nature and quality of their cables. ”
