The Best Western Plus Heritage Rail Inn & Suites is now open in York, Pennsylvania. The hotel, owned by Sagar Shah and his family, recently completed a $3 million renovation. It features 73 rooms and 55 suites, along with amenities such as retro games, a fitness center, a yoga and wellness room, a business center and a meeting room, Best Western said in a statement. "Following a top-to-bottom renovation, we are excited to welcome guests to our reimagined hotel," said Shah. "The redesigned property pays homage to the rich history of York, Pennsylvania, while also providing the modern comforts and conveniences for which the Best Western brand is known." The property is situated near the Colonial Courthouse, Appell Center for the Performing Arts, and York County Historical Center, the statement added, noting that a new lobby bar, The Heritage Rail Tavern, will open soon.

HOSPITALITY FINANCIAL AND Technology Professionals, the global representative for hospitality technology and producers of HITEC, recently initiated a project to develop a digital responsibility code for the hospitality industry. HFTP is forming a task force of experts and academics to develop the code. UNIFOCUS, A WORKFORCE management system provider led by CEO Moneesh Arora, recently partnered with Nonius, a guest-facing solutions company for hotels, to integrate Nonius' platform with the Unifocus operations management system. This partnership ensures guest requests inform operational priorities, enabling real-time adaptation to guest needs and improving service delivery and staff efficiency. NEW YORK LEADS the top 50 U.S. markets in hotel construction with 47 projects and 7,655 rooms currently underway, according to Lodging Econometrics. The city has a total of 78 projects and 13,549 rooms in its hotel construction pipeline, the 10th largest in the U.S. Projects set to start in the next 12 months include eight projects with 1,079 rooms, while early planning includes 23 projects with 4,815 rooms, according to LE's Q1 2024 Market Trend Report for New York, released before the NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference. Within the New York market, the three submarkets with the largest hotel construction pipelines are the New York City area (including Brooklyn East, the Bronx, and Staten Island) with 25 projects and 2,096 rooms, the report said. Similarly, the Midtown South area features 11 projects and 2,535 rooms, while the Midtown West/Times Square area has 10 projects and 4,131 rooms. Combined, these submarkets account for 59 percent of the projects and 65 percent of the rooms in the market's total construction pipeline.

The Admiralty Inn & Suites is now open in East Falmouth, Massachusetts. The 97-room upper-midscale hotel, part of The Red Collection, is owned by Sai Vani Corp. led by Mark Patel. It is the second hotel in Cape Cod to be in Red Roof's Red Collection, joining the Mariner Resort in Yarmouth, Massachusetts, Red Roof said in a statement. The recently renovated hotel is near Cape Cod attractions like Falmouth Heights Beach, Martha's Vineyard, Nobska Point Lighthouse, Historic Falmouth Village, Highfield Hall & Gardens, Cape Cod Children's Museum, Woods Hole Science Aquarium, Old Silver Beach, Shining Sea Bikeway, and Beebe Woods, the statement said. The property features a business center, onsite fitness facility, heated indoor swimming pool and seasonal outdoor pool. "Cape Cod is a sought-after region for development and with the opening of the Admiralty Inn & Suites Red Roof now has two Red Collection properties in the region," said Matthew Hostetler, Red Roof's chief development officer. "The brand's offerings-increased amenities at an affordable price point-resonate with consumers and we'll continue our efforts to meet guest demand for Red Roof hotels across the country."
