  • Remember “Snow Fall: The Avalanche at Tunnel Creek,” the multimedia project called “the future of Web storytelling,” which we chose as our Reading Club selection in January?Well, given that our mission is “teaching and learning with The New York Times,” when we came across this video of Russell Loucks, a Language Arts teacher at Mountain Ridge Middle School in Highlands Ranch, Colo., using it to teach his students to tell their own multimedia stories, we had to post it.

  •
This cool, simple interactive exhibit will help students visualize the history of time in geologic, evolutionary, and cosmological terms. This would be an excellent visualization for helping provide this perspective in a science class.

What Is A Flipped Classroom? (Updated For 2012) - Edudemic - 1 views

  •
    via Edudemic http://edudemic.com
  •
This article is proposing that the students watch video lectures (prepared by the teacher or elsewhere) at home and come to school to work. This would keep students more actively engaged during class. This method would also provide more one-on-one time with the teacher as opposed to using all of the class time listening to the teacher.

PowerPoint on iPad and iPhone - Control PowerPoint and More on Any Screen - Electric Slide - 0 views

  •
To some the electric slide may just be a novelty dance. Astute readers of technology blogs will know that this Electric Slide happens to be a application that allows visitors to wirelessly present their PowerPoint slides, documents, and videos using just their iPhone or iPad. First-time visitors can watch an instructional video and then go ahead and get started. The Features area contains details on the operations of the program and the Help section offers up some useful suggestions. This version is compatible with all operating systems running iOS 5.1.1 and newer. From The Scout Report, Copyright Internet Scout 1994-2013. https://www.scout.wisc.edu/

Regarding Relevance, I would probably add a check to decide if the app is grade-appropriate and that it will support student growth toward mastery of curricular standards, lesson objectives, etc.

Online form building tool. It will store/compile your data take payment and much more. Although there is a monthly fee for a subscription, there is an option for a one month free trial that will allow you to build a few forms for free.
  •
Actually, the free option is not a trial. You can have a free account that will allow up to 3 forms and 3 reports at the same time. There is no monthly cost for the free level account and there is no trial period. This is an example of a "freemium" service that offers a totally free basic service with the opportunity to upgrade to a subscription level premium account with additional features or capacity for a monthly fee.
