Thousands of educators participated in efforts to refresh the NETS. ISTE thought it would be valuable to tap that enthusiasm, experience, and knowledge again to develop implementation resources for the NETS*S! This page is dedicated to educators who want to develop and share exemplary lesson plans. ISTE is posting pdfs of the lesson plans that you submit by grade level. "The National Academy of Engineering and National Research Council held a symposium to coincide with the release their report "Engineering in K-12 Education: Understanding the Status and Improving the Prospects." Participants spoke about the recommendations and implementation of programs to include more engineering topics in primary math and science classes. The report assessed the value of developing and implementing engineering curricula for kindergarten through grade 12. It also describes what engineering concepts children are able to understand and at what age, and provides an analysis of more than a dozen engineering curriculum projects. "

Don, I was really excited to see this. But, take a look at the apps in the Creating level. I think they prove my point that the ipad isn't a serious player, yet. If those are prime examples of what can be Created on the ipad, then I still say that it's not the answer to Education's persistant questions. It's a great personal device but not one for school.

This scale focuses on the use of technology as an interactive learning medium because this particular component has the greatest and lasting impact on classroom pedagogy and is the most difficult to implement and assess. Powerful Learning Practice Professional Development for 21st Century educators. This site looks interesting. It is a free site and appears to provide a variety of professional learning opportunities for teachers that they can take back to their classroom and immediately implement.

"Code.org has developed a free elementary school curriculum that allows even the youngest students to explore the limitless world of computing. The courses blend online, self-guided and self-paced tutorials with "unplugged"activities that require no computer at all. Each course consists of about 20 lessons that may be implemented as one unit or over the course of a semester. Even kindergarten-aged pre-readers can participate."

We will have teachers, writing assessment experts, academics, and others write about what they've tried, what works, how to implement ideas, and current theories on the subject of writing.
