My older students will be using EasyBib to organize their links and their notes. While my third graders will not be doing true citation yet, I will be teaching citation to my seventh graders and requiring all of their projects to be accompanied by a bibliography, which they will create in EasyBib.
Older students will use EasyBib to do citations, but 3rd grade will not.

The Maker Movement seeks to integrate the use of technology in creation. While this article is not specifically about technology, the mindset informing the movement recognizes technology as a powerful tool for student centered learning.
May 5, 2014 Creative Commons has recently rolled out its new 4.0 licenses and made it available for adoption worldwide. This is a fruit of two years of hard work to overcome some of the weaknesses that marked the 2011 version CC licenses .Some of the features and improvements included in 4.0 licences which make them easily shared and re-used include : improved readability and organization and common-sense attribution.
By blocking social media schools are also blocking the opportunity:
1) to teach students about the inventive and powerful ways communities around the world are using social media
2) for students and teachers to experience the educational potential of social media together
3) for students to distribute their work with the larger world
4) for students to reimagine their creative and civic identities in the age of networked media
I chose this because it reminded me on taking small steps to make change as it was discussed in Switch and also that it can be messy. This is a very simple article that highlights the importance of connections, a messy time and creativity with growth.
Crisp and clean eportfolio...the predictability of each page (standard, 2 artifacts, description and rationale for each) allowed me to focus in on the content being presented. It would have been nice to see some zippier artifacts (there seemed to be a lot of text heavy docs). The predictability of the layout would allow you room to put in the craziest, most creative artifacts without having to worry about your reader/reviewer getting lost.
One of my favorite librarian blogs to follow, Andy Plemmons does creative, innovative, fascinating things in his elementary library. I never fail to be inspired by reading about his work.
This would be a very exciting way to work on the concepts of surface area, volume, etc...

This is incredibly true! I just find it hard to coordinate projects like these on a regular basis with so many students. Not to say that I can't. Maybe with practice, it will come more easily.
This would be another great way to work on area, surface area, and volume. Students currently design cereal boxes, but this could be a great choice!

So, so true! I find when I do meaningful projects, behavior is much better. However, it is hard to manage doing these projects all the time. With that said, maybe it gets easier with practice.
