One tool that promotes digital and media literacy for students in primary grades is Toontastic. This app gives students the freedom and the tools to design their own interactive stories. Students can choose a setting, design their own characters and animate different parts of their stories. I have used this application as another way for students to celebrate a writing piece at the end of a unit. This application fits within the redefinition phase of the SAMR model because it is allows students to bring their own stories to life! An idea that was once inconceivable through a pencil and a piece of paper.
