I'm at a loss for words. The police were able to arrest the man after the rape, but couldn't do anything to stop it, even when she had told them what was going to happen if he got into her residence? The police said that they didn't have any deputies to respond to it at the time because of budget cuts forcing them to fie 80% of their deputies and not having any deputies to work on weekends for emergencies. Are the police at fault here or is the state for having budget costs, especially to something as important as the police?

I'm hoping that contrary to what Gibson is predicting, Tumblr continues to run, untouched by Yahoo. People thought Instagram was going to change drastically (for the worse) when it was purchased by Facebook, but all it did was make sharing photos to your friends easier. I'm hoping Yahoo purchased Tumblr to try to appeal to a younger crowd, not completely re-work and change it.

That's disgusting. It's like they think that since they are so ridiucously rich that they can just use others to get what they want, that they are entitled to it. It's just not okay. It's kinda sad that it's still cheaper than a Disney VIP pass, though.
Another good example of people like this would be the instagram user "itslavishbitch", a 16 year old who constantly posts pictures of super-expensive stuff that he has, including buying out all the iPhone 5s in an Apple store and carrying 5 thousand dollars as 'pocket money'. His mom has a net worth of something around 550 million dollars, and he loves to use that money.

She's being tried as an adult for a science project that lead to a small explosion, and is getting expelled. She was a straight A student with no bad track record. What do you think about this? Should she be tried as an adolescent, or at all? Was her intent to cause a chemical reaction a way for police to justify this? Should the expulsion and felony charge be dropped?

He plagiarized from multiple EDM producers, and then accidentally admitted to it (at least to stealing 'Rebound')

I have no respect for him. He didn't just sample a song without permission, he completely stole a track and put his voice over it. It's a sleazy way to 'make' music. He didn't (and more than likely won't) come out with an apology, but even if he does, the damage has been done. It discredits him even more than previous stolen songs have.

Media coverage influencing shootings? - 20 views

I think the big problem with the media coverage is the amount of coverage. All news channels stop reporting everything else and focus on the shooting, for days, and even weeks, until the story won't bring them the ratings anymore. The amount of time spent by the news media might be the tipping point for another shooter. Someone who is insane and would even think about shooting a school or public place might think "I'll go down in the history books forever, people will finally remember me."

I think that posting this article was a good idea by the Bark as they are bringing light to a serious topic. I knew of kids having things like slushies and oranges thrown at them, but dip spit? That is one of the grossest things I've ever heard. Hopefully the article will make upperclassmen realize that torturing freshmen might not be a good idea, even if they were hazed the same way as freshmen.

I felt like this article was a bit biased, only blaming kids for changing grades. Obviously they are in the wrong, but the teachers should have some of the blame. Allowing kids to grade their homework or their friends homework is a bad idea. Letting kids change grades in eSchool is even worse.I agree with Jasmine too, the pressure on students to be perfect promotes cheating. The article itself is written well, and the fact that they were able to get a couple of good sources that weren't anonymous helps the story.

One problem with this multimedia approach for articles is that people with low bandwidth/high latency will be waiting a while for the page to load, and might encounter problems with certain parts of the page. However, it's a great idea and a really good way to get the reader engaged, especially teenagers who might not be as interested in reading a really long article but would watch a video or look at some photos instead.
