High Schools Gay "Cutest Couple" - 27 views

I think this is an adorable story, and shows a lot of progress. I recently watched a documentary on the Stonewall riots and it was horrible to see how LGBTQ people were treated in the 1950s and 60s. Being homosexual was considered to be a mental disease or defect in the brain, and the few that had the courage to come out were considered not human and put in a mental clinic to be treated. Things like that still happen sometimes but stories like this give me hope.
Americans Say Religion is Losing Influence in the U.S. - 9 views

I agree that religion is loosing it's influence. I went to a Catholic elementary school until 3rd grade, and was raised very religiously, but now I never even go to church anymore. Although it is loosing it's influence, it will never go away completely and religion will always be relevant and present because of the people who are still religious.

I feel like this was very exaggerated, it made it seem like everyone here is a hippie, there's nothing but forests and all the food is organic and sustainable, when that's not the case. But maybe that's just because I've lived here so long and am used to it, maybe that's how outsiders view Marin. It's hard to tell how other people view you sometimes, so I think this was valuable insight into how other people see Marinites.

Rape Culture at Paly High - 46 views

It makes me sick how some people think getting raped was the victims' fault, and that they brought it upon themselves. This is a very important issue and there needs to be addressed more. I think in order to do that we would have to essentially change society, and teach men not to be as aggressive and women not to be so passive. That would be difficult, and it would take time, but it's not impossible.

Getting it First vs. Getting it Right - 98 views

I think it is more important to get the facts right rather than publishing the article as fast as you can. If you publish misinformation because you rushed to print the article people won't consider you as reliable as other sources. I think it was a lucky chance we got all the facts right, and that we got an article as good as the Barks' written so quickly.
