This 2020 Forecast is a tool for thinking about, preparing for, and shaping the future. It outlines key forces of change that will shape the landscape of learning over the next decade. The forecast does not predict what will happen, but rather serves as a guide to the as-yet-unwritten future. It is designed to help you see connections among things that once seemed unrelated and to help you consider the changes and challenges that you are facing today within the context of wider patterns of change. Ultimately, the 2020 Forecast aims to provoke your own thinking about what role you want to play in creating the future of learning.

"This website has a collection of short, simple and fun video clips to correctly define and provide examples of around 800 words in context. The videos are entirely appropriate for middle and high school students. The students are encouraged to play with words,create their own vocabulary videos and upload their work to the website. Teachers may direct activities and assign word projects to the students. The Study Room allows personalized list creation and sharing. Visitors can also sign up to receive a word of the day in the email."

The Technology Integration Matrix (TIM) illustrates how teachers can use technology to enhance learning for K-12 students. The TIM incorporates five interdependent characteristics of meaningful learning environments: active, constructive, goal directed (i.e., reflective), authentic, and collaborative (Jonassen, Howland, Moore, & Marra, 2003). The TIM associates five levels of technology integration (i.e., entry, adoption, adaptation, infusion, and transformation) with each of the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments. Together, the five levels of technology integration and the five characteristics of meaningful learning environments create a matrix of 25 cells..."

The worldwide OER movement is rooted in the idea that equitable access to high-quality education is a global imperative. Open Educational Resources are teaching and learning materials that you may freely use and reuse, without charge. OER often have a Creative Commons or GNU license that state specifically how the material may be used, reused, adapted, and shared. As a network for teaching and learning materials, the web site offers engagement with resources in the form of social bookmarking, tagging, rating, and reviewing. OER Commons has forged alliances with over 120 major content partners to provide a single point of access through which educators and learners can search across collections to access over 24,000 items, find and provide descriptive information about each resource, and retrieve the ones they need. By being "open," these resources are publicly available for all to use, and principally through Creative Commons licensing, many thousands are legally available for repurposing, modifying and improving.

I've written previously on how your resume is meaningless, on building career security, not job security and on the rise of personal branding.  To summarize the overarching themes of those three posts quickly: Your work should be working for you, building your reputation, not locked away in a resume. A resume proves nothing, a living case study proves everything. Creating a name for yourself in your industry provides you the ultimate freedom:  career security. The tools exist for you to influence your industry in deep ways to make positive change and carve out a name for yourself. Building your personal network enables incredible connections with the world around you not previously possible. A blog is the ideal avenue to accomplish all of this and so much more.

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) attempts to identify the nature of knowledge required by teachers for technology integration in their teaching, while addressing the complex, multifaceted and situated nature of teacher knowledge. At the heart of the TPACK framework, is the complex interplay of three primary forms of knowledge: Content (CK), Pedagogy (PK), and Technology (TK).
