What is the strategy and how did you use it in your reading? Give a specific example from the book you are reading. Remember to use your best writing. -
#2 Kelsey P on 29 Apr 15Last night a reading strategy I used was trying to understand a thing that the author said and understand it by reading the sentence around it and than things about it. I am reading Whatever After and I am on page 127. -
#3 Kalani M on 29 Apr 15Last night I read El Deafo. This week is a very busy week so I don't get that much reading time. So I remember my place I take an index card a right what's going on and put that were I left off so next lime I read I can just read that and get right to it. -
#4 Sam J on 29 Apr 15Last night I read my life in pink and green. One strategy I used is when ever I came across a word I didn't know I would read the words next to it to see if I could find out what it meant. I left off on page 157. -
#5 Caroline S on 29 Apr 15Last night I read THE DOLL PEOPLE. A stratige that I used was when I found a word I did not know is I would make a list and then find out what the words meant. This book is by Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin. -

#7 Annabelle A on 29 Apr 15A strategy that use in my reading to help me figure out a word is to read the sentence after it. If I don't know a word sometimes I'll read ahead and try to figure out what the word means. If that dosen't work I sound out the word and say it and the break it into words and figure it put by that. -
#8 Jack D on 29 Apr 15Last Night I started El Defo. By Cece Bell. One strategy I use is looking at the picture because it is a graphic novel it always helps. One time... There was a picture when it said Phonic Ear. I did not now about that. So it really helped. -
#9 Julio F on 29 Apr 15Last night I read Heaven Cent. And the strategy I used was when I found a word I didn't know I just look it up since it's a digital book that has a search option. Or just keep reading to see if it says. Like the word oxlotls (a kind of salamander) I just kept reading and found out what it meant. I've been reading two books at the same time. -

#11 Ellie S on 29 Apr 15Last night I finished The Blood Of Olympus. My reading stratagey for when I read something that doesn't make sence is read the paragraph before that so then I usually understand it more. -
#12 Davis H on 29 Apr 15Last night I read Where the mountain Meets chapters 21-28.A reading strategy that I have is to read slowly and carefully,because if you read slowly and carefully you will understand almost everything that you're reading.Really important things and things that are not quite as important than other things. -
#13 Mac M on 29 Apr 15Last night I read El Deafo again. The strategy that I use is that when I found a difficult word I bookedmarked it and I would come back to it later. Cece Is playing with Martha when the new family moves in. They are the millers. One of the millers is Mike. Cece has a crush on him. This book has some interesting stuff in it. -
#14 Asa C on 29 Apr 15A reading stradagy I use is I try to pretend I'm inside the story and I'm encountering everything that happens to the characters. For example, in Ella Enchanted, the book I'm currently reading, Ella is in the forest meeting the elves. What I did was I imagined sleeping soundly in a leaf hammock with a canopy of leafs towering above while listening to the sweet sounds of music filling the air and rocking slowly back and forth. -

#16 Kelsey P on 12 May 15Last night read Don't Judge a Girl by her Cover. A strategy I used last night was when I did not understand what the author was saying I would read the page over again and then I would uselly understand what they were saying. I am on page 233.

#18 Jack V on 12 May 15Last night I finnished evil spy school. A reading strategy I used was slowing down on the action packed and fast parts and try to understand them. I also just slow down and read.

#19 Julio F on 12 May 15Last night I read Heaven cent. I use 2 stradegys depending on what was going on if somwons talking I I go into the main characters perspective and thother is just looking at what's going on with my brain.

#20 Kalani M on 12 May 15A strategy I use is if I am wrting a story in writers workshop and I need help with a sentense I pick up my book and find a sticky note in the book. That note may work for the sentense I need. So as I read I look for strong sentences that can help me when I start writing. Then those sentences start to become natural when I write. That helps me become a stronger writer and reader.

#22 Davis H on 12 May 15Last night I read El Deafo and Cece,the main character is deaf because when she was 4 years old she got really sick and that caused her to be deaf. But even though she is Deaf she can still hear and talk because she has these cords that can make her hear. A reading strategy that I have is to look for intresting vocabulary because if you look for intresting vocabulary you will learn more words.

#23 Annabelle A on 12 May 15Last night I read My Basmati Bat Mitzvah. I am on page 56. A reading strategie that I used was sounding out a word and reading the sentence that goes with it. The word was advocate. I didn't know how to say it or what it ment. So first I sounded it out and I figured out to say it. And then I figured what it ment.

#25 Asa C on 12 May 15Last night I read Ella Enchanted. A reading stradagy I use is to make connections. Right now Ella is riding a horse to Uaxyees farm for the wedding with Sir Stephen. He is nice and patient but he talks a lot. He talks about his wife and his children and mostly his "wonderful amazing hounds." Then I connected. "Hey, I have three wonderful amazing dogs." And then I could connect with that character so I could understand him more.

#26 Jack D on 12 May 15Last night I read NERDS. I kind of feel bad for Jackson because when he got braces he became a outcast. My reading strategy is to think about the spelling. Then look at the sentence surrounding it. If I don't know it by then I go to the dictionary. If it is not in there I just ignore it.
