Newsvine - £5million landmark care centre opens its doors - 0 views

Source : http://www.springhillcare.com/news/2012/february/5million-landmark-care-centre-opens-its.html   A new £5million specialist care centre has opened its doors in Accrington with a Mayoral seal of approval. The groundbreaking care centre, at Springhill Care Home, Fairfield Street, is a three storey, 24,000 sq ft development which includes 46 beds over five separate facilities. It is a separate, dedicated service from the rest of the home with its own entrance, reception areas and specially trained staff designed to provide specialist facilities and care for people with dementia and promotion of mental wellness. The official opening saw members of staff joined by senior healthcare dignitaries and the Mayor of Hyndburn, Councillor Colette McCormack, who referred to the facility's "bright, modern look." The new care centre brings the number of beds at Springhill Care Home to 110, and is made up of self contained community living suites of between eight and ten beds each. Each spacious bedroom has private en-suite facilities, including 'wet room' style accessible shower areas. Each of the five suites of bedrooms have been created with access to dedicated therapy rooms, lounge, dining and lifestyle kitchen areas for residents  In addition to the care centre, a new extension to the home will also add two, eight-bed facilities for younger adults with complex healthcare requirements including physical disability, brain-injury, neurological and degenerative conditions. The centre helps to meet changing demands, with the number of people over 85 in the UK predicted to double in the next 20 years. There are expected to be more than a million people with dementia by 2021. Springhill Group Home As the American population grows rapidly, the field of healthcare becomes alert of the upcoming strong demand for senior healthcare providers. Personal care providers do not really do physically invasive therapies and are not under the supervision of a nurse, there are no existing federal qualifications in place for this profession. However, nursing aides are required by government to have certain certifications to ensure their capabilities. It is an essential measure to protect the senior population. For instance, a caregiver who is not alert may effectively endanger his charge and lead to disastrous results. Several states do have regulations in place to address the caregiving sector. In California, each county has to keep a record of healthcare providers that consists of background checks and referrals. While in Washington, aides should have finished 75 hours of basic training and pass an exam. However, others seem to be more focused on direct care providers in general when establishing relevant legislation. Actually, most of the elderly only needs assistance in day-to-day activities and do not need a medical professional to look after them. This is where the legislators need to address. Creating policies that concern caregivers is essential to the long-term care policy of any country. With the growing number of elderly people, the need for safe and effective caregiving for seniors is imperative.

Ken Nolan's dream is complete.  The £5 million transformation at the Springhill Care Home has added the very latest in specialist care facilities in the UK, making it a home from- home for its residents and its staff. The revolution has seen Springhill change from traditional care home to a new bright, modern care centre. "A Los Angeles man was sentenced to six years in prison last week for his role in a power wheelchair scam, topping what prosecutors say has been a series of Medicare fraud cases. David James Garrison, 50, a former physician assistant, was found guilty by a federal jury for his role in submitting $18.9 million in fraudulent Medicare claims for power wheelchairs and other equipment. The wheelchair case is the third time Garrison has been accused of Medicare fraud. In 2009, Garrison pleaded no contest to tax evasion for his role in what prosecutors described as a fraudulent medical clinic. He pleaded not guilty in October to charges that he forged prescriptions as part of an OxyContin ring that sold 1 million pills on the streets. That case is ongoing. Garrison's attorney did not return a call for comment about the cases. Garrison's physician assistant license lapsed in 2009, said Russ Heimerich, a spokesman for the Department of Consumer Affairs, which oversees many state licensing boards. He said the board examined the tax evasion case and did not see it as grounds for discipline. According to court documents, Garrison's cases involved the use of "cappers" or "marketers" who recruited Medicare beneficiaries to submit to unneeded care or hand over their personal information. That information was used to bill the program for medications, services or supplies that the patients didn't need. In the wheelchair case, prosecuted by the Los Angeles U.S. attorney's office, one witness testified that  marketers had to recruit beneficiaries as far as 300 miles from Los Angeles because so many local people had already been used in other fraud schemes. In the first health fraud case linked to Garrison, he was described as an "at large" suspect in October 2007 when then-Attorney General Jerry Brown announced arrests in a $1.5 million health fraud scam. "The suspects create a fake healthcare clinic to line their own pockets rather than help the sick and elderly," a 20

The insurance fraud in Changwon uncovered by the Financial Supervisory Service is both shocking and disturbing. It involved as many as 1,361 people, mostly residents of the South Gyeongsang Province city, who either posed as fake patients or exaggerated their illnesses. Collectively, they claimed 9.5 billion won from 33 insurance companies between 2007 and 2011. At the center of the scam ― the largest ever in terms of the number of people involved ― were three unconscionable hospitals in the city, which recruited fake patients systematically in cahoots with insurance brokers and solicitors. They did this to increase revenue and ease their financial distress. The main ploy used by the hospitals was to share a patient, meaning they would arrange for a patient to check in the three hospitals alternately for a different disease. For this, they faked his illnesses and prepared false documents. For close cooperation, they shared patient information among themselves. This scheme helped patients pocket more insurance money. They all purchased multiple private health insurance policies before hospitalization. On average they received some 7 million won per person. In one example, a man in his 50s was hospitalized for a total of 564 days over three years, collecting 95 million won in insurance. The Changwon case followed a similar one that took place in Taebaek last November, involving more than 400 people in the declining mining town in Gangwon Province. They got a total of 14 billion won in insurance payments. As with the Changwon scam, three financially distressed hospitals in the city played a central role. The two cases suggest that insurance fraud is a fairly common occurrence in Korea. According to the FSS, the number of insurance-related crimes has surged in recent years. Last year alone, more than 70,000 people were caught for insurance scams, with the amount of false claims they filed reaching 423 billion won. Yet the figure represented just the tip of the

Welcome to Birds 4 You Aviary. We are a private parrot breeder specializing in hand raising and hand feeding parrots ranging from large Macaws, Congo African grays, and Amazons. To smaller parrots like Sun Conures, Indian Ringnecks , Quakers, and Parrotlets. We are located in Central Florida, just 10 miles north of the Tampa Bay Area in Trinity, FL. We are not open to the public on a daily basis but if you wish to see our birds please contact us and schedule a visit. What makes us different from other breeders is that we go the extra mile in hand taming our birds assuring that you will get the best possible bird available. Our staff has over 20 years experience in breeding and training large parrots. We do not sell birds to be show pieces or breeders. We wish for all our parrots to become a loving member of their adopting family. We make sure all our large birds are well socialized with both male and female humans as well as other birds of different sizes and species. In addition to hand feeding our birds we make sure each is allotted a specific amount of play time each day. Each parrot is weaned onto pretty bird gold pellets and gets a daily ration of fruits and vegetables to provide them with the proper nutrition that they require and deserve. Purchasing a parrot is a huge commitment. Some parrots like blue and gold macaws, and congo African greys can live in excess of 70 years with proper care and diet. All to often people jump into ownership head first without knowing what they are getting into. Macaws and CAG's are highly intelligent and have a mental capacity that rivals dogs, cats, and even dolphins. African Greys have been know to recognize colors, shapes and even associate human words with meaning. So it is very important your bird gets the attention and love that they deserve. Parrot Speceis that we offer for sale. We offer a number of different macaw species for sale. Our most common and most recommended would be the traditional Blue and Gold Macaw
