"Podcasts are a great way to help strengthen student listening skills. Podcasts are audio (and sometimes video) recordings similar to a radio program or television episode. A wide range of organizations and individuals host podcasts and share their thinking around a topic through this medium. There are a wide range of podcasts to choose from. If you are teaching a specific subject area, you can search for a related podcast to find a clip to share with your students. Teachers can use podcasts to help students build listening skills. By listening to a narrator tell a story or an expert discuss a topic, podcasts can help students strengthen their ability to gather information through multimedia." The author also links to another post where she shares some of her favourite kid-friendly podcasts.

This Scrabble Wall is one of nine done by an artist. It is beautiful, large and expensive. The idea offers us a very cool "word wall" application. I wonder if a project for our VCAL boys would be to create something that offers similar play/word opportunities for our library. A game board that could be used for play or for messages.

Another idea offers us a different way for our students to play chess in the library. Could it be a project for our students to build something along similar lines. .

At its most basic, content curation is the process of finding, organizing, and presenting content from the flood of information and media that inundate the web by the second.  Similar to museum curators, content curators sift through a seemingly never-ending amount of digital objects to unearth individual items worthy of being showcased for a specific audience."

"Some may say that does not count as reading, I certainly used to balk at it counting toward any reading goal, this year I am discovering otherwise.  Sure, there are cognitive differences in the processes that happens when we read with our eyes versus our ears, however, the skills that we are able to utilize through the listening of an audio-book are monumental in building further reader success.  And research has shown that the cognitive processes are surprisingly similar.   So what has adding (and investing in audio-books) done for our students?"

The graphic is titled the Inquiry Process and offers a visual representation (a map) of the inquiry journey together. "At its essence, inquiry takes learners on personalized learning pathways that are often unique in their details as well as when they meet particular benchmarks phases.  This map allows learners to visualize where we will go and understand that although our individual journeys may be unique, we are all in a similar landscape that provides connections across topics and questions in the processes we all follow."
