Behind the Studio Door with Shaun Tan - 3 views

  • When ‘Rules of Summer’ was developed as an app for iPad – the first time I’ve worked with an electronic book – I was quite keen to include as many sketches as possible; work that does not fit well into a printed book, but is perfectly good as supplementary material in digital media

Another interesting insight on 'banning books' and reasons people want them off library shelves. I really don't think as a child this book had me harming my pop!

This is what drives me nuts about referencing: the examples aren't the same, so which one is it: Melbourne: Australia or Melbourne, Australia?

What if the real attraction of the Internet is not its cutting-edge bells and whistles, its jazzy interface or any of the advanced technology that underlies its pipes and wires? What if, instead, the attraction is an atavistic throwback to the prehistoric human fascination with telling tales? Five thousand years ago, the marketplace was the hub of civilization, a place to which traders returned from remote lands with exotic spices, silks, monkeys, parrots, jewels -- and fabulous stories.

Library of the future: 7 technologies we would love to see - 1 views

  •
Libraries lead the way to digital citizenship. They should be the first places where most advanced technologies are implemented. Today, libraries are not only about lending books. They are creative spaces, not only for individuals, but also teams. They are economic incubators and learning hubs.

I love seeing how the other half live. this was fantastic and challenging to think what the librarians need to do to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of these libraries. What a privilege to be able to work in such an environment and to be allowed access to it.

Internet of Things for LIbraries - 1 views

I've been dooing some looking at Internet of Things information... can I just say "Wow!" There is so much interconnectivity out there. I am not sure that there is much to be gained in Libraries beyond the gimmicky touches, but following some of the links in this slideshare has me a little excited about the potential for IoT (the Disneyland Magic Band, similar to FitBit but connected to room/ride bookings/meals/payment/photos.... oh my! Maybe a Library use will evolve over time.
