UNION COUNTY, AR - An inmate in prison for failure to register as a sex offender was allegedly strangled to death late Friday night. According to reports, inmate Ronald Holland, 44, stopped a guard around 1:00 am on December 8 to report that he'd strangled his cell mate with a bed sheet. Holland reportedly told the guard that he'd strangled his cell mate, identified as Matthew Schiele, 22, around 11:00 pm Friday night and covered his body with a sheet. Schiele was in prison serving a 48-month sentence for failure to register as a sex offender, while Holland was serving out a capital murder life sentence without parole. Arkansas State Police is investigating.

Keys was found guilty of using peer-to-peer software between April 2009 and August 2013 to share thousands of images of child pornography online. A federal search warrant was obtained for Keys' residence in August 2013, and law enforcement officers discovered more than 10,000 images and videos of child pornography.

Charles Francis Gaskins, 48, was sentenced Friday after pleading no contest in March for the killing of Neil Hayes in 2009. A probation report said Gaskins was a member of a supremacist group that required its members to attack anyone with a history of child molestation. Gaskins and his wife - Sandra Sheaves - was living in a home she owned in Carmichael, a community outside of Sacramento, when they allowed the 66-year-old Hayes to move in. Gaskins had met Hayes while they were both serving time in prison, The Bee said.

Under normal circumstances, divorced parents should have to share custody with one another. It's what's best for the kids. But when a judge awards sole custody of a 6-year-old girl to a convicted sex offender, a man who went to prison for molesting a (different) 6-year-old girl, all bets are off. I think I'd run far, far, far away (with my child, of course). I wouldn't blame Lisa Knight, a mom whose ex-husband (and registered sex offender), Nicholas Elizondo, just took her to court over visitation with their 6-year-old daughter, if she did the same.
