NASA Aviation. NASA X Technology Program, The Boeing X-48 UAV. Future of Aeronautics HD. FSX Boeing B-797 Flying Wing Super Liner On March 19, 2010, NASA and Boeing successfully completed the initial flight testing phase of the X-48B. Fay Collier, manager of the ERA Project in NASA's Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate commented on the completion of the first phase of testing saying, "This project is a huge success. Bottom line: the team has proven the ability to fly tailless aircraft to the edge of the low-speed envelope safely." 39 Days to Mars! NASA's New Plasma Following the installation of a new flight computer in 2010, the X-48B was to continue a new phase of flights tests to investigate controlability aspects. The second phase of flight tests with the X-48B began in September 2010. The X-48C first flew on August 7, 2012. Engine yaw control was among the aspects to be studied.] The X-48C completed its 8-month flight test program with its 30th flight on 9 April 2013. The Boeing X-48 is an experimental unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) for investigation into the characteristics of blended wing body (BWB) aircraft, a type of flying wing. Boeing designed the X-48 and two examples were built by Cranfield Aerospace in the UK. Boeing began flight testing the X-48B version for NASA in 2007. The X-48B was later modified into the X-48C version. It was flight tested from August 2012 to April 2013. Boeing and NASA plan to develop a larger BWB demonstrator.

Latest Article : Tackling Cancer Stem Cell: From Science to Medicine - 0 views

  •
In spite of being a minor cellular subset, cancer stem cells (CSCs) fundamentally contribute to intra-tumor heterogeneity. With the biological features of self-renewal and differentiation, CSCs confer a driving force for malignant recurrence and anti-cancer drug resistance in oncologic patients, which highlight an unmet clinical need calling for innovative medicine to Come up. Due to the elusiveness of specific biomarkers and biological regulation for CSCs, a number of precisely targeted therapeutic approaches against CSCs are at their infancy far from reaching the clinic. However, we have herein been able to sort out three groups of CSC inhibitors which are clinically available, and proposed to take the advantages of these drugs to improve the therapeutic efficacy of existing anti-cancer treatments. Article - "Insights into Chronic Postsurgical Pain" - 0 views

  •
Most postsurgical patients experience moderate to severe acute pain which, in some patients, transitions to chronic postsurgical pain (CPSP). Optimal pain control of acute surgical pain will likely blunt or prevent the transition of acute postsurgical pain (APSP) to CPSP. While there are known risk factors for such chronification of pain type, and certain surgeries (such as limb amputation) and approaches (open versus laparoscopic) are associated with higher rates, it is impossible to predict which patients will transition to CPSP. Additionally, despite knowledge and an armamentarium of analgesics, APSP may be suboptimally controlled.

Sterilization Mechanism of Nitrogen Gas Plasma Exposure - 1 views

  •
As already published by Shintani et al, gas plasma sterilization is the alternative sterilization procedures to the existing sterilization procedures due to applicable to the several sensitive healthcare products and attainable both sterility assurance level (SAL) of 10-6 and material/functional compatibility, which authorities and GMP (good manufacturing practice) are required. In addition there was progress in the field of plasma-based sterilization, there are still some questions. The aim of this editorial is to mention briefly some of un-resolved sterilization mechanisms as well as to draw further perspectives of sterilization technique.

The field of nanomedicine holds vast potential for the improvement of health care around the world and the coming nanomedical revolution will surely bring innovative solutions to many of the difficulties we currently encounter in the realm of patient treatment. Nanomedicine is a relatively new field for scientific inquiry. It is defined as the use of nanoscale devices or materials to diagnose and cure diseases by actively interacting at the molecular level within a cellular system. In the context of nanotechnology, the "molecular level" refers to structures less than 100 nanometers in diameter. For more info : http://scidoc.org/IJNST-2167-8685-05-101.php

Article How To Differentiate Smokeless Gun Powder by Hanging Drop Technique - 0 views

  •
Bulk smokeless gunpowder is manufactured in a large variety of shapes, sizes, and textures, many different types look similar, making it challenging to differentiate between types of powders. One chemical discriminating parameter is the presence of nitroglycerin, which often requires expensive instrumentation to be detected. By using the Hanging drop technique, whereby a sample is induced to react inside a drop hanging over it after, it is possible to differentiate between single and double-base smokeless powders. The method resulted in a successful, time effective, and non-destructive result for the detection of nitroglycerin. For more info : http://scidoc.org/IJFP-2332-287X-04-901.php

blast furnace gas recovery - 0 views

  •
Separation of CO from blast furnace gas is an international problem, which is mainly due to the blast furnace gas also contains a large number of N2 and CO2. Because of the close boiling point of N2 and CO, the traditional cryogenic rectification process cannot be used to separate CO from blast furnace gas. The adsorption of CO and N2 is low, and the adsorption of CO2 is easy to poisoning and deactivation, so the conventional pressure swing adsorption method cannot be used for CO separation of blast furnace gas.

WPI Deep UV Optical Fiber Cable | Bifurcated Fiber | Fiber Optic Assemblies - 0 views

  •
"Due to the large core of multimode Optical Fiber, some of the light rays goes zigzag as they bounce off the cladding and others make up the digital pulse may travel a direct route. These phenomena cause the different groups of light rays. These different groups of light rays are referred to as modes. These modes are arrived separately at the receiving point. The pulse, an aggregate of different modes, begins to spread out, losing its well-defined shape. The need to leave spacing between pulses to prevent overlapping limits the amount of information that can be sent. In a core the refractive index diminishes gradually from the center axis out toward the cladding, meaning the refractive index at the center is the most. At the center the light rays moving down the axis advance more slowly than those near the cladding due to the difference in the refractive index. Because of the graded index, the light in the core moves spirally rather than zigzag off the cladding. It significantly reduces its travel distance. The shortened path and the higher speed allow light at the periphery to arrive at a receiver at about the same time as the slow but straight rays in the core axis. Tough it takes the same time but as a result the digital pulse suffers less dispersion. Specific Applications * liquid absorbance analytical technique * solid or liquid reflection analytical technique * solid or liquid Raman analytical technique * integrated component of a medical instrument * individual light source "

calcium carbide furnace tail gas - 0 views

  •
There are nearly 400 calcium carbide manufacturing enterprises in China at present whose total annual productivity exceeds 15 million tons. More than 15 billion m3 tail gas of calcium carbide furnace is produced in China every year. It mainly contains CO (75%~90%) which is total If fully discharged, equaling to the waste of 2.4 million tons of standard coal, and emits 12 million tons of CO2 and more than 900,000 tons of dust every year. It is the best way to save the energy, reduce the emission and transform the waste to treasure by reasonably utilizing CO.
