Twitter Blog: Best practices for journalists - 0 views

  •
Twitter posted this "Best Practices for journalists" on their blog. Twitter wasn't 'meant' or built to be a tool for professional communicators but has obviously been used as such since its creation. I just found it really interesting that the tool is telling the storyteller how to do his/her job. I wonder why Twitter as an organization felt the need to post this best practices for journalists. What is the communication strategy here? Do they hope to change Twitter practices? Bring in more would-be journalists on the site? They even include quantitative research and examples to support their recommendations!

Twitter's most active country is China (where it is blocked) - 0 views

  •
It's not much of a surprise when China tops a "world's most" list since it does, after all, have the biggest population. It is, however, intriguing that a new study discovered that China is the most active country for Twitter, as the service is blocked there. I find this interesting because they have Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter (which I use to follow Asian public figures), and yet they choose to go the extra length to use a platform that is blocked in their country. It's surprising that (according to the article) China and India have more Twitter users than the US.

Explore Einstein's brain in this new interactive iPad app - 0 views

  •
This article is interesting, but what strikes my attention is that there seems to be no regulations on apps being sold to the public. Would you buy an interactive app of Einstein's brain for $9.99? In the article, it states that it could "spark a whole new generation of neuroscientists," but there is debate as to whether anyone (most importantly Einstein) would want a "circus made of his remains." Yikes.
