Another case of art seriously inspiring fashion. A somewhat old campaign, from 1999 for Yves Saint Laurent, shot by Mario Sorrenti, it sticks closely to some great classical paintings to deliver a thrillingly unique set. The original paintings are included alongside the shots for your delight.

Montreal-based artist Kevin Ledo uses images of world famous fashion icons such as Dior, Calvin Klein, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Prada and Louis Vuitton to draw parallels between modern fashion and Christian art from European medieval times. Coolhunting notes Ledo does this by, "transposing methods of religious paintings into an advertising context".
